Video: Brad Marchand wastes no time vs. Tomas Vokoun

Jun 3, 2013, 8:35 PM EDT

During Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma’s pregame press conference, he said that the team that scores Game 2’s first goal will end up winning. If so, the Boston Bruins locked things up in just 28 seconds.

A Sidney Crosby pass went wrong in the offensive zone, allowing Brad Marchand to break free and score this breakaway goal against Tomas Vokoun to make it 1-0:

It’s hard to beat the 36-year-old goalie up too much for that tally, but with that and Nathan Horton‘s recent 2-0 tally, people are probably going to start calling for Marc-Andre Fleury‘s name in 3, 2, 1 …

“I think the first team to score a goal is going to win this hockey game tonight.” -Dan Bylsma

    Oops….

    • kissmytaintpatriotsrule - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:54 PM

In between sobs Crosby was heard blaming the refs……

  2. valoisjoeybfeld69 - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:41 PM

Great anticipation by Marchand and a terrible play by Crosby. Bruins looking damn good again, and the Pens…. well their boxed out by the Bs. Bylsma needs to get Crosby’s line away from Bergeron’s line.

    • chanceoffleury1 - Jun 4, 2013 at 12:05 AM

It was a bad play by Letang as well. He abandoned his position which forced Crosby to take on Letang’s usual spot. Then he just took his good old time getting back when it was obvious Crosby was going to play the puck. It’s fine if he wants to play the puck, but he needs to put a rocket under his ass to get back when he doesn’t make the play.

    • rdurk86 - Jun 4, 2013 at 7:53 AM

Going to be tough to get Crosby away from Bergeron on the road. They tried it late in Game 2 and it back fired.

      • valoisjoeybfeld69 - Jun 4, 2013 at 12:00 PM

Bylsma could have had his way at home and he decided not to exercise his option. All the be guns on absolutely atrocious right now, and the Bs are playing near perfect hockey. Frankly I can’t see the Pens turning this around. It just seems like Bylsma and the players are disconnected right now.

  3. sjsharks66 - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:42 PM

I said they should have pulled him after this goal… Guess they thought 6 unanswered goals was a good point. Boston is dominating the Pens. I am surprised. Boston is a hell of a team, but the Pens have been a force this season.

  4. sjsharks66 - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:45 PM

Time to pull flower and put in Johnson.

    • villi5ed - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:02 PM

Eff Johnson. Time for Les Binkley.

    • drewzducks - Jun 3, 2013 at 11:00 PM

      Kenny Wregget baby!

  5. philly4lyfe - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:46 PM

down 4-1 after one. what’s the over/under on how long it takes the pens to resort to their usual shenanigans.

    • imleftcoast - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:01 PM

What’s the over/under on Boston fans claiming the opposing team whines and dives when the Bruins are the worst offenders in the league? Embellishment city:

      • scottybcboy - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:06 PM

Great comment! Way to stay up to date!

      • sabatimus - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:24 PM

        Sidney, is that you?

      • davidmessina63 - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:27 PM

I guess you’re not really a hockey fan. If you were you would have seen game 1 and the outstanding sportsmanship of that Captain of the Penguins.

      • imleftcoast - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:29 PM

The usual shenanigans are the Bruins and their fans crying like babies. Can’t stop complaining even when you’re winning. Obviously uneducated Red Sox fans are on the Bruin bandwagon for a couple weeks. Impressive fan base.

      • laxman1944 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:26 PM

        Sour grapes

      • drewzducks - Jun 3, 2013 at 11:04 PM

Imburnttoast has crawled out of his A-hole. Shouldn’t you be taking the Sedin sisters to the malt shop right about now?

      • thesportsjudge - Jun 3, 2013 at 11:55 PM

Keep posting the video all you want. It happened. The thing is, Montreal(I think that is who the opponent was that night) is definitely a team of divers.

  6. infectorman - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:47 PM

takes Pitt almost 4 FULL periods to score a single goal.
Boston in that time? 7 Goals

Guess what Pitt, the Penguins suck

  7. hockeyflow33 - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:48 PM

    * , Fleury

    • bruinsyea - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:49 PM

      thank god

    • hockeyflow33 - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:52 PM

Who thumbed this down? Did I miss something or did Marchand not score on Fleury’s first shot faced?

  8. sabatimus - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:49 PM

Brad Marchand wastes no time vs. Marc-Andre Fleury.

    • 8man - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:51 PM

      The Rat at work!

  9. mattryannolan - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:49 PM

Horrible. After wanting his head on a stick in the first round the Penguins fans are freaking out in joy to see Flurry back. Crapy fans.

    • mattryannolan - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:50 PM

      crappy*

    • mattryannolan - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:51 PM

Fleury. Man rough night for me haha I look as bad as the pens.

  10. valoisvipers - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:50 PM

Blysma, needs to come up with a way to break through the Bruins 1-4 trap. They are skating right into it every time and it’s costing them big time.

    • hockeyflow33 - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:54 PM

The Penguins should keep trying to be physical and lay hits on guys that leaves them behind the play so the B’s can develop odd-man rushes

    • valoisjoeybfeld69 - Jun 4, 2013 at 1:40 AM

at least 5 commenters who know nothing. One of the reasons the Pens sucked is because the Bs were clogging the neutral zone. Crosby was flopping like a live fish out of the water.

  11. pitpenguinsrulez - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:50 PM

A horrid start thus far for the Pens thus far smdh. Disco shows ZERO emotion on the bench much like Mike Tomlin! I just don’t get it at all very disgruntled💥😡💥

  12. sabatimus - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:54 PM

Man, that goal by Krecji was so great. It’s too bad they can’t hand out a couple more assists on that clinic.

  13. imleftcoast - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:56 PM

Marchand wasted no time with Fleury. Bruins have 4 guys back defending, and the Pens can’t seem to get two guys back. Pittsburg has to simplify their game, and get their feet moving.

    • scottybcboy - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:25 PM

Is that what you told the ‘nucks in 2011?
      How’d that work out?

  14. villi5ed - Jun 3, 2013 at 8:57 PM

    REPOST

It’s really difficult to even consider the Penguins losing this series, or really any series. Has there ever been a more loyal fan base? I mean when this team isn’t any good, the people still can’t wait to see their hockey club compete! They flood the arena! They can’t be kept away! I mean the thought that the league would need to BAIL them out once is unthinkable! And those who say it could possibly occur TWICE?? How dare they?! There are no greater fans, with no greater history, in the history of time!! GO PENS GO!!!

  15. spitfisher - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:04 PM

Does Cindy get an assist on Marchands first goal?

    • bruininnh1984 - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:49 PM

he should, handed it to marchand on a silver platter

  16. earpaniac - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:04 PM

I really hope it doesn’t happen because they are too good of a team to act like that, but how much more before the Penguins “lose it” again?

  17. philly4lyfe - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:11 PM

its a good thing the pens added all that talent to their roster at the deadline. bet iginla is wishing he could have that decision to do over.

    • jcmeyer10 - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:16 PM

As Jagr makes the play to set up a goal.

    • pens5829 - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:28 PM

How was your golf game today troll?

      • laxman1944 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:36 PM

        Crybaby

  18. ironmike778 - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:17 PM

What a sick third goal by the B’s. A passing clinic!!

  19. pens5829 - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:29 PM

Marchant. Dirtiest player on the ice.

    • imacdane - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:33 PM

      Who is Marchant?

      • scottybcboy - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Todd Marchant? On the Oilers? He was great….remember that OT winner against the Stars….classic…may have even been a shorty.

    • villi5ed - Jun 3, 2013 at 9:35 PM

      Ha. Ha ha ha. Ha!

      Sincerely,

      Marc Savard

    • thesportsjudge - Jun 3, 2013 at 11:51 PM

So Crosby and Malkin were on the bench at the time of your comment? Got it.

That being said, I think Marchand can be dirty along with Ference and Horton on the Bruins, and that is my home team.

  20. madmax80 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:05 PM

Is it too late for the Pens to trade for Luongo?

  21. drone501 - Jun 3, 2013 at 10:08 PM

i have a ear of corn, baked potato to go with by plate of baked crow. pens look so bad, i can’t even get upset. maybe a cardboard cutout of tom barasso in goal would do the trick. i even think pierre is bailing out on us. but you still have to win four.

    • thesportsjudge - Jun 3, 2013 at 11:53 PM

I upvoted your comment. If you would be humble and honest, I could respect you, not the fly off the handle crap you seem to normally post. Also, the winning team will have to win 4, so this series is not over by a long shot.
