Video: Viktor Stalberg checks Jake Muzzin

Jun 1, 2013, 6:22 PM EDT

The Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings don’t have a big playoff rivalry, with just one series (in 1974) between the two franchises.

Still, as high-level conference foes, it probably won’t take too long for the animosity to rise. Big hits should get the blood boiling, so consider this Viktor Stalberg hit on Jake Muzzin the opening salvo.

It doesn’t matter. The Hawks are dominating anyway. If this is any indication of how things are going to go for the rest of this series, the Kings are in for some trouble.

Good Win but the Hawks can’t count on anything coming easy against the Kings. The Wings didn’t go according to plan after the first game, but the Hawks did learn how to dig deep; that’ll have to keep happening to them to go after the cup again.

What I have noticed the last few games is the significant increase in hits by the Hawks. If they do indeed win the Cup, I’l be the 1st one to say “Thanks Wings for waking them up!”. Seriously, hawks were 15 orf 16 playoff teams based on regular season Hits statistics. While hits are really overemphasized in many fan posts (lots of hits are not highly correlated to actual wins), still the Hawks have clearly decided that they are not going to be intimidated or out muscled.
