Avery ‘had a huge smile on my face’ after learning of Torts firing

Ex-Ranger Sean Avery was pleased to learn head coach John Tortorella was fired on Wedensday — but not for the reasons you might think.

“It’s not that I’m happy for myself. I’m happy for the Rangers and Ranger fans,” Avery told the New York Post. “When I was a Ranger, no one was happier to walk into the Garden every day than me.

“I loved the team. I still do. I want the atmosphere to be the best it can be for the players. I want everyone in New York to be proud of the team.”

Little was heard from Avery since retiring last year, until he popped up on Twitter to call Tortorella a “clown” in March, adding “his players hate him and won’t play for his BS.”

Then, in mid-May, he took a different approach, saying that playing under Tortorella was “one of the best things that ever happened to me.”

“Part of it was the relationship that I had with him as a coach,” he explained. “It definitely helped me make the transition and have a successful career.”

But Avery took a new turn — surprise surprise — after hearing Tororella was ousted this week, tweeting “Don’t ever doubt what I say,” before speaking with the Post’s Larry Brooks.

“Oh, I had a huge smile on my face,” Avery said about hearing the news. “No question about it.”

Tortorella has a very douchey attitude and it doesn’t surprise me at all that #1 he was fired and #2 that players may not like him. I *might* actually be able to like the Rangers now that he’s gone.

“By the way, did I mention I told you so? Because I totally told you so. I told you so so hard. Please pay attention to me.”

Huge smile on my face that Avery is no longer in the show

And how many times did teams get rid of Avery because he was a complete dung head too? Why not ask Mike Modano what it was like having Avery on the Stars team? Other than embarrassing I mean.

Modano: straight up character guy. Stripped of the captaincy in Dallas and blamed Team USA’s poor showing at the ’06 Turino games on the fact that the players had to pay for their families’ flights and hotels.

Who keeps finding this idiot to even ask his opinion? Avery is a complete dolt. An embarrassment to the league and the teams he’s played for. Can we just leave this guy under the rock where he comes from?

One a-hole enjoying a schadenfreude moment at another a-hole’s expense.

Sounds about par for the course.

Why do people keep searching out this turd for his opinion? He should be thanking his lucky stars he got a huge payday before the rest of the league figured out he couldn’t play.

    Dear Mr Sean Avery,

    Please go away.

    Thank you,

I don’t know what’s more pathetic, PHT keeps posting about Avery, or me for freaking stopping to read each one of them!!!!!

Well that was nice of him to take a break from his sewing machine and voice his opinion. Alright Avery, back to hand bags.

Why do media outlets still give this washed up, never was has been the time of day? We don’t give a crap about what you think purse boy. Torts may be a bit over the top but he does gets results. The only accomplishments the purse connoisseur has is a rule named after him for vulgar displays of douchebaggery on the ice.

Who would care what washed up mental case thinks about anything. Much less a sport he made a mockery of.
