Video: PHT Extra — Kings-‘Hawks Western Conference finals preview

May 30, 2013, 8:00 PM EDT

Shortly after discussing the Eastern Conference finals with NBC’s Kay Adams, Jason and I switched gears and focused on the West.

In a rematch from the opening night of the 2013 NHL regular season, the Kings and Blackhawks will meet to decide who represents the West in the Stanley Cup finals.

As far as powerhouse matchups goes, this one is pretty good. The Kings are the reigning Stanley Cup champs while the ‘Hawks are the reigning Presidents’ Trophy winners, having captured the regular season title for just the second time in 20 years.

So, what are the keys for both Chicago and L.A. in this series? Check the video to find out…

Actually, I was referring to this:

Remind me, when is the next Sharks game again?

  4. kingsfan68 - May 30, 2013 at 10:55 PM

once again sharksfan66 you showed your low class..stop hating on a better team cause your team can’t win a big game when it counts…all I can say is scoreboard

    • nightfireop - May 31, 2013 at 1:12 AM

eh don’t say that, it was as hard fought game and quite frankly, both team met their matches. kings edged sharks, but barely. it was a good series.

      gg sharks. go kings!

Chicago is going to be more difficult than San Jose and St Louis.

Even if we get more consistent scoring from Kopitar Carter And Brown.

As a Kings Fan all I can hope is that Quick continues his amazing play…..

And that Crawford is not up for the challenge.

And that the Kings continue to physically punish their opponent.

How i think Kings n Hawks match up…..

    SCORING – CHI

    DEFENSE – EVEN

    GOALTENDING – KINGS

    Special Teams – EVEN

Im proud of the Kings and hope they advance.

Does la even know hockey? The only way la wins a game is because how amazing jonathan quick is. Remember when Kane and toews beat Richards and carter in 2010….

    SANGFROID !

“coolness and composure under trying circumstances … derived from the French meaning ‘cold blood’ … the credo of the British Army for centuries”

*** this message is intended for fans of the reigning Stanley Cup Champions only ***

Make no mistake about it friends, this will be our toughest test yet. The Hawks are a ‘proud & quality’ team who bristle with firepower and fortitude. However we can defeat them and we will, as our glorious enterprise will not be deterred or delayed by anything. The key to defeating these people in my opinion, is to hone our attack at their Achilles heel, which is none other than there lackluster goal tending. Quickie and crew will hold down our back end against their excellent offense, no doubt. However the time is ‘now’ for Carter and friends to seriously bring the hammer to bear on offense. Yes, we’ve triumphed thus far in two ‘trench warfare’ type engagements against the Blues and Sharks. But now against these excellent Blackhawks, we need to ‘seriously’ bring our big guns to bear and give these people hell ! … and God willing friends, we will … :)

GO KINGS GO !!! … TODAY, TOMORROW AND FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“God willing we will…”? “Today, tomorrow, and forever”? What, is it 1776? When your standing in front of your TV Saturday wearing your British hat with your pants down around your ankles watching the Hawk make ‘Quick’ work of your goal tender, peppering him with cannon fodder, I want to hear you say loudly “For God, Country, and The Queen!”, over and over. Your probably French anyway, but good luck to all you LA fans. Quick really is The Man right now and your only hope.

I originally thought because I live in Canada the NBC app wouldn’t play the videos but after seeing others have the same issues I figure it’s not an IP issue. Either way NBC: fix the app so we can all watch the videos!!

Fix the video ISSUES, THANK YOU NBC SPORT TALK

  12. ilikejay - May 31, 2013 at 11:16 AM

    Hawks in 4

  13. comeonnowguys - May 31, 2013 at 12:13 PM

I have a feeling Quick is going to steal one in Chicago, but I still like Chicago’s chances to win in six or less.

That said, the back-to-back games will be an interesting dynamic. In 30 hours, you can go from Series Preview to “Team Z reeling after losing first two games of the series.”
