Sarnia Sting head coach and general manager Jacques Beaulieu has been fired by the OHL club.

The move comes a month after Beaulieu was charged with two counts of assault.

“The reasons for his dismissal are not related to the on ice performance of our hockey club,” said co-owner Rob Ciccarelli in a release. “As per the advice of our lawyers we cannot comment any further at this time.”

Beaulieu’s 20-year-old son, Nathan — a prospect with the Montreal Canadiens — was also charged in what the London Free Press described as “a fight at a party at a private home.”

As indicated by Jason Brough, they also need a general. Jacques apparently held the roles of coach and general.

Let me show my ignorance. Who, and where, are the Sarnia Sting?

The Sting are in the Ontario Hockey League, arguably the best junior hockey league in the world. From Gretzky to Lindros, Orr to Doughty..it has produced some of the best players in NHL history. It’s a 20-team league with three in the U.S., and it is for players 16-20 years old.
Sarnia is in Ontario, about 40-50 miles northeast of Detroit. It’s also Mike Weir’s hometown.

You forgot Steven Stamkos and………. Soon-to-be NHL Star Reid Boucher, who broke the Sarnia Stings team goals record, previously held by Stamkos!!

Not to be overly sensitive, but I’m curious about why someone gave my “information only” response a thumbs-down. Is Sarnia closer to Detroit? Should I have mentioned Connor McDavid here in Erie?
It doesn’t matter at all–just kinda funny.

Now gvboot is going to ask who Mike Weir is.
