Video: Jonathan Quick gets glove on Joe Pavelski shot

May 28, 2013, 11:52 PM EDT

A perfect save highlight revolves around a goalie foiling an ideal shot attempt by a player.

When you consider the lack of space and incredible intensity of a Game 7, it’s not often going to be like that. You can blame Joe Pavelski for not raising the puck* or say that Jonathan Quick‘s glove was merely at the right place at the right time, but the bottom line is that this is still a jaw-dropping moment:

That’s the kind of save that can win you Conn Smythe trophies. The Kings held on to win 2-1, so maybe that save will be the go-to highlight.

* – Easier said than done, by the way.

Both GKs made saves on pucks that would have gone in if lifted off the ice. As mentioned, much easier said than done.

Not having Stoll hurt the Kings in several ways. Hoping he’s back soon.

Anybody saying the Sharks are chokers now must not have much respect for the Kings either. SJ gave LA everything they could handle and then some.

Team that scored first won every game in this series, it was that tight.

Congrats to both teams and their fans. Here’s to a stout North/South California rivalry for years to come.

    On to the WCF, GKG!

If he only elevated it a bit! Also I forgot to say this in my last post but I’m especially proud of Niemi’s play in the playoffs, he really made some phenomenal stops and was only out shined by in my opinion the best goalie in the game right now. Keep your heads up boys, if I didn’t drink tonight and live 35 miles from the airport I’d make the trip to welcome you all home with applause

Nice job sharks, keep makin the kings look good. Surprise you didn’t let quick get another record breaking shutout. Good luck next year, or the year after that, or the year after that, or the…u get the idea.

Hey, this Sharks team didn’t resemble those perennial gaggers from Vancouver, as they have in years past. If that’s not an improvement then there’s no such thing. And Quick earned every victory in this series, the Sharks made sure of that.

well don’t say that, the sharks played a very proud game this playoffs. the series would have gone either way.

      go kings!

Quick made a great save, but Pavelski missed the shot! Just had to elevate! That one will haunt him for a while.
