Bruins getting their rest before Eastern Conference final with the Penguins

Eliminating the New York Rangers in efficient fashion – five games – in the Eastern Conference semifinal has afforded the Boston Bruins’ coaching staff an opportunity to rest its players.

After a day off Sunday, the Bruins did not skate Monday, the Memorial Day holiday.

Two days ago, the Bruins knocked off the Rangers to advance to the third round of these Stanley Cup playoffs.

But the break is coming to an end, with practice expected to resume Tuesday in anticipation of the Eastern Conference final against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

“[Monday] is the last day [off]. They need to get back on the ice here,” Bruins’ head coach Claude Julien told reporters, as per NHL.com.

“I thought two days was a good thing because we’ll have at least a couple of days — Tuesday, Wednesday — to practice. This time of year there’s not a ton of things you can do with your team more than get them some rest and still have a couple of days to accomplish a lot.”

The Bruins are returning to the conference championship series for the second time in the last three years.

In 2011, not only did they make it to the conference final, but they went on win the Stanley Cup.

Should of lost first round. What a joke. Leafs deserve to be here not them.

    • betrayedbylife - May 27, 2013 at 10:43 PM

deserve’s got nothing to do with it.

      • matt14gg - May 28, 2013 at 7:26 AM

You are a fan of “Unforgiven”. And you are right, you can always tell a non-sports fan when they say things like “…our team deserved to win…”, etc. Ridiculous.

    • nunan - May 27, 2013 at 10:44 PM

Funny logic, seeing as how the Leafs lost. Rarely do teams collapse but ‘deserve’ to move on…good one.

    • pens919209 - May 27, 2013 at 10:51 PM

If the Leafs deserved to be here, they wouldn’t have collapsed like a wet newspaper in a windstorm in game 7. The Bruins have a good time and they earned their spot.

      • nunan - May 27, 2013 at 10:55 PM

And they have a good team!

      • pens919209 - May 27, 2013 at 11:01 PM

        Bah, typo. Good call.

    • jimthebear - May 28, 2013 at 6:41 PM

Shouldn’t dignify this with a response, but I’ll try to be gentle.. IF THE LEAF’S WERE THE BETTER TEAM, THEY WOULD HAVE NOT LOST GAME 7 AND THEY MIGHT BE THERE, but since they LOST, they are NOT the better team by definition. How’s Kessel’s golf game doing?

  2. bigbadbruins77 - May 27, 2013 at 10:07 PM

Sheer will to win and experience. Keep calm and bergeron.

  3. detroitcityy - May 27, 2013 at 10:11 PM

Leafs are garbage they don’t even deserve to be in the playoffs

  4. Stiller43 - May 27, 2013 at 10:12 PM

If you lead by two with 1:30 left in the series, and you lose…you dont deserve to go to the next round.

Doesn’t matter how much rest/naps/diaper time Baston gets, they will not be able to match up with the power and skill of The Franchise. Errah errah

Can’t wait until you are too busy crying to post here anymore.

    • nhloon - May 28, 2013 at 9:31 AM

Pretty sure the Canucks learned the hard way that the Bruins are the most physically demanding team, even with high end talent, Pens better bring some grit. Which, they lack. Soft D.

      • basedrum777 - May 29, 2013 at 11:39 AM

While I agree that Boston is physical, many have commented that Chara has lost a step the last few years. It’ll be interesting how he does against the team speed. Good matchup.

Cant wait till ur cryin in ur Sam Adams after The Franchise steamrolls ur a$$es

    • jimthebear - May 28, 2013 at 6:44 PM

The best two teams in the East are in the Conference Finals. Haven’t seen that in a while.

We have five more days to wait until this begins on Saturday.

BIG ‘BAD’ BRUINS VS VICTORIA’S SECRET ?

No offense to any of you “flightless bird’ fans out there, however the fact is that I equate ‘you’ people and your team to some over-priced lingerie store. While growing up as a youngster in Montreal in the 60’s and hating the hometown Canadiens, Bobby Orr and the Boston Bruins were my very first ever ‘beloved’ hockey team. The number they did on the Sedin sisters 2 years was positively hilarious, as was the riot which ensued in the aftermath. My hope is therefore that you Penguins get trounced in a most ‘violent’ of fashions !

    GO BRUINS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      get lost idiot

    • theageofquarrel - May 28, 2013 at 7:08 AM

What if the Penguins win the series? Then what?

I just asked my iPhone that question and the response was, “would you like me to search the internet for that?” I guess nobody knows what will will happen if the Penguins win the series. I would guess that they would then be in the Finals to face Chicago, Detroit, or LA. But that’s just a guess.

That was so good you had to post it twice?
Plus I was asking Blomfeld. Since he is the Oracle of PHT and the way he spouts his BS about the Penguins. I just wanted to know what IF the Penguins get past the Bruins what kind of crap he was going to spew at us?

    • basedrum777 - May 29, 2013 at 11:41 AM

For someone that old I’m surprised you know how to use the internet. Did your grandson type that up for you from your shorthand notes?

Love watching God #4 play hockey. Thanks for the memories. Go B’s.
