Andrew Shaw follows advice to eat punches

Jonathan Toews wasn’t the only player who turned his fortunes around in Game 5 on Saturday.

Andrew Shaw had a great night of his own, scoring two goals and drawing a penalty to boot. That’s a big turnaround for the 21-year-old forward who failed to record a point in the first four games of this second-round series against the Detroit Red Wings and was handed a game misconduct in Game 3.

Shaw told the Chicago Sun-Times’ Mark Lazerus that some only-in-hockey* advice from Michal Handzus helped him turn things around. Handzus’ advice was simple: eat the punch, don’t give it.

Again, PHT does not endorse this strategy in your day-to-day life (unless you’re a professional hockey player … maybe).
