PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Meanwhile former Colorado Avalanche head coach and current Calgary Flames bench boss Bob Hartley knew it was just a matter of time before Roy rose to the rank of NHL coach. The two won the Stanley Cup together in 2000-01. “Of my former players, he’s the one that I always stayed the closest,” Hartley said. (Calgary Sun)

Rangers defenseman Marc Staal (eye) had “some ups and downs” after attempting to return on May 6, but he’s making progress. (Newsday)

The Pittsburgh Penguins are averaging 4.1 goals per game in the 2013 playoffs. Among those that participated in at least two postseason rounds, that’s better than any other team in the last 15 years. (Penguins.nhl.com)

Great deal… what many don’t know is why Roy delayed…

He wanted to ASSURE Kroenke’s are going to SPEND ‘the cap’ under him. He wants to build a winner quickly… and bring a toughness the Avs need and had.

Teams need to see the Avs on the schedule and NOT be happy about it, even during the short rebuilding.

From a Wings fan… Great Job Avs… look forward to a renewed and heated up rivalry

As a Wing’s fan you should know that they will be in the East next year and will rarely play the Aves.

Thank you Captain obvious… and… as long as they WILL ever play the Avs, I want the rivalry to be resurrected.

Feel free not to think for me.

Our media and society fawn over guys like Roy way too much. How eager and gleeful we seem to quickly forget how douchefully this honk carried himself, and how he conducted himself in junior hockey with his idiot kids. His fans will thumbs down me, but I sure as hell ain’t wrong.

Maybe the hockey media will make Roy the new poster child target over Torts.
