Video: Brad Stuart lands big hit on Justin Williams

May 18, 2013, 10:49 PM EST

The San Jose Sharks might be banged up, but they’re giving the Los Angeles Kings a fight in Game 3 on Saturday. Part of that means delivering some big hits, as Brad Stuart did masterfully on Justin Williams in the first period tonight:

Williams had his head down and Stuart proved you can deliver a clean, legal hit without getting the head. Nothing else you can say but good job.

Meanwhile Vlasic gets away with a 2-minute minor for cross-checking Brown while he’s laying on the ice and then boarding him as he tries to get up. Apparently drawing blood after a boarding doesn’t warrant a 5-minute major if the bleeder is Brown. After all, he’s a dirt bag, right? Are the Sharks getting frustrated? They’ve taken penalties at the end of both periods now.

How about the punch Gomez landed on Richards? Yet both go to the box. I’ll stop now, I’m starting to sound like sjsharks66.

Stuart getting suspended for that Kornwal type hit.

Clean as they come. Great hit.

What a classic, textbook hit… and keeps the puck carriers thinking.

      Man I miss Brad Stuart!!!

      Go RED WINGS!

Cosmetic game over. Refs complete make-up by giving Sharks their own 5 on 3 with a weak goaltender interference penalty on the Kings. No matter the defenseman pushed Lewis into Niemi, must nullify perceived mistakes of last game. Kings outplayed Sharks for long stretches, but Sharks win. That’s the way the puck bounces. See ya next game.

The problem is that Lewis made no attempt to avoid the collision…

He was in front of the D man… could have tried to go right, left, stop… anything… but he did nothing.

    Hey manchester, stop whining!

Manchester you are such a hypocritical cry baby. Lewis dove into Niemi. Seriously, your comments hold NO water after these comments.

“Williams had his head down and Stuart proved you can deliver a clean, legal hit without getting the head. Nothing else you can say but good job.”

Sorry, just whining and being hypocritical there. It’s pretty sad when you can’t take a compliment about your team. I guess an inferiority complex does that.

Man do I miss having Stuart on the Wings. Not that our guys are doing horrible, but they don’t hit like that as often as I’d like.
