Video: PHT Extra – Can Red Wings measure up to Blackhawks?

May 15, 2013, 7:42 AM EDT

Chicago and Detroit are getting ready for Game 1 tonight (8:00 p.m. ET, NBCSN) and the Blackhawks are understandably regarded as the heavy favorites.

Could we be in for an upset? Is there an area that the Red Wings have an edge in this series?

Mike Halford and Jason Brough analyzed the Red Wings and Blackhawks’ final playoff series before Detroit heads to the Eastern Conference next season:

Blackhawks downplay regular season success vs Red Wings

Yes, the edge is completely in Hawks favor… incredibly talented team… but that’s what most said about the Ducks.

The Wings played the Hawks tough except for one game this year. It was a good matchup… and the Wings are playing better now than at any time in during the season.

Why do reporters still mention Lidstrom not being in Detroit… as if it’s still news??? The Wings weren’t supposed to make the playoffs because he retired and the D was weaker… then not supposed to get out of the first round for the same reasons… C’Mon man, let it go guys. How about just talking about the Wings as they stand today… period.

That was the first video I watched with those guys in it. And it was just painful to watch. They must have picked roles out of a hat and Brough got stuck with playing the part of the douche-nozzle.

    Halford: “Jimmy Howard-”
Brough: “What, no respect for Crawford?”

Holy Stupid Batman. You can have respect for Crawford while still saying goaltending is the one area that Detroit may have a slight advantage.

It just goes on from there.

We understand Chicago has, for all appearances, the stronger team. I guess that’s the best reason to show your ass, interrupt, talk over, and generally try to imply you have all the authority in the world on this subject.

“Part-Time Douche Nozzle” would look great as a job title on a business card. Just sayin’.
