Sharks coach says Torres didn’t deserve penalty for hit on Stoll

Some might believe that Raffi Torreshit on Jarret Stoll stands as another example of the San Jose Sharks winger going over the line. Others may say that his negative reputation explains why it was a two-minute charging penalty in the first place.

Sharks head coach Todd McLellan told ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun that he didn’t think Torres went over the line during that hit from Game 1 against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.

“Clean hit,” McLellan said. “[It] wasn’t even a charging penalty, in my opinion.”

Officials didn’t see it that way, however, handing the 31-year-old a minor penalty for that check.
