It was immediately apparent that Ottawa Senators defenseman Eric Gryba was in a bad way following a hit by Pittsburgh Penguins blueliner Brooks Orpik in Wednesday’s Game 1 match. The upper-body injury he suffered will probably keep him out in Game 2, as well, according to the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch.

Garrioch reports that the 25-year-old will be replaced by either Andre Benoit or Mike Lundin.

Here’s a side-by-side breakdown of the trio’s regular season stats, in case you want to play Senators head coach (don’t forget your imitation Paul MacLean mustache):

Gryba: 33 games played, six points, -3 rating and 20:17 minutes per game
Benoit: 33 GP, 10 points, -3 rating and 16:25 minutes per game
Lundin: 11 GP, 1 point, -2 rating and 15:30 minutes per game

No need for that……make fun of their owner for his forensic investigation all you want but Gryba may have a concussion. I hope that’s not the case but if it is his masculinity should be the last thing is question.

I think he blew out an overy. 44 made him look like a hurt broad.

Binghamton Senators season ticket holder here. Sens will have an upgrade if they suit up Benoit, more offensive minded and better on the PP….they need all the scoring help they can get against the Pens!
