Caps want to make Rangers ‘weather their storm’

Washington goes into this afternoon’s Game 6 in New York against the Rangers with the chance to end the series and move to the second round. Having dealt with the Rangers in the playoffs in four of the last five seasons, they know that won’t be easy to do.

As Chuck Gormley of CSNWashington.com hears it from Caps defenseman Karl Alzner, they want to make the Rangers earn it by making them uncomfortable.

“I think the thought process should be to let them weather our storm and try to figure us out,” Alzner said. “That’s the mindset we want.”

One of the things (clichés?) you always hear about playing a playoff game on the road is having to make the best of the first 10 minutes and, yes, “weathering the storm.” If the Caps want to put the pressure on the Rangers and put them out of their element, taking it to them would do just that.

Thats all it is. A cliche, A desperate team facing elimanation is coming for more than those first 10 mins and if that team is any good look out. Now both these teams have the players for it to go either way. so we will see. prediction Capitals in 7 as Ovie steals the show

People have been talking about how Ovie is going to “steal the show” for the last 3-4 games. And they’ve been right…….Ovie has given us the gift of one of the greatest gif’s ever. Controller disconnected indeed.

Not a bad plan. In fact it’s what the Caps did in Game 3. They had enormous pressure on the Rangers
5-on-5 and a lead after the first ten minutes. But as the outcome of that game shows, the visiting team — for
whatever reason — inevitably lets up on the gas, and that’s when the rubber hits the road.

I don’t care who wins this series, but for a showdown between Ovi and Crosby would be awesome in the conference final. It would be entertaining to see a game 7 between these 2 teams.

The last game 7 between those two wasn’t very exciting unless you were a pens fan.

That media-manufactured “rivalry” is long dead. There’s no more question of who the far and away better player is anymore. Ovie’s just another sniper now.

    Let’s go CAPS CAPS CAPS

I was very concerned that Ward’s return in game 3 was causing some chemistry issues when reworking the lines but it looks like they’ve figured out a way to shake of the rust and get back into their comfort zone. Either way its not going to be an easy victory on the road at MSG and the Caps will need a 60 minute all out push to get it done.

Oh and Henrik is Jesus reincarnated- if I don’t say it apparently I get bashed.

    RTR!!!

Should be an entertaining game if nothing else.

This has 7 written all over it

Maybe backstrom will reason with lundqvist before the game- “look just let in 4 goals in 1st period and everyone will be cool? Ok?”

  9. ludacrish05 - May 12, 2013 at 1:20 PM

    Just focus caps

Keep green off the ice then. Put some guys who don’t get abused along the boards and behind the goal out there. That might help.
