Preds’ Wilson out 4-6 months after shoulder surgery

One of Nashville’s top offensive performers will be on the shelf for a while.

On Thursday, Preds GM David Poile announced forward Colin Wilson had stabilization surgery on his left shoulder earlier this week, a procedure with a 4-6 month window for recovery.

Wilson, 23, was on pace for the best season of his career this year before undergoing a similar procedure — on his right shoulder — in April.

The former Boston University standout had 19 points in 25 games prior to getting hurt and was Nashville’s leading scorer at the time.

This promises to be a nervous offseason in Nashville, at least on the injury front.

The club is hopeful Wilson will be back for the start of training camp, but could be preparing to start the regular season without him, should the recovery take the full six months.

The Preds will also be keeping an eye on franchise goalie Pekka Rinne, who underwent arthroscopic hip surgery on Monday and will be out four months.
