Video: Voynov’s OT winner has Blues on the brink

May 9, 2013, 1:45 AM EDT

Slava Voynov wasn’t going to hang back.

The 23-year-old defenseman jumped up into the rush in overtime, then took a pass from Anze Kopitar before beating Blues goalie Brian Elliott to give the L.A. Kings a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues in Game 5 of this Western Conference quarter-final.

The Kings now have a 3-2 series lead and can eliminated the Blues, who, according to their head coach Ken Hitchcock,  “played a hell of a hockey game,” in a losing cause, with a win on Friday.

Let us “close rank” fiends and finish the job at hand !

Not sure about you fellow King’s fans out there ? … but I for one say we now go “berserk” on Friday and put an end to this thing quickly … do you not concur ? :)

I for one don’t want to see the Kings go back to St. Louis. If they continue to play like they have the Kings should close it out Friday. A lot of kudos to the Blues for being such a tough opponent.

This is the best series of round one – hands down. As well as the Blues have played I almost want them to win – Nah, just kidding.

Five one goal games. How much closer can two teams be matched?
