Kings’ coach doesn’t think 2-0 deficit is ‘end of the world’

In 2012, Los Angeles Kings head coach Darryl Sutter admitted that he’s no Nostradamus. He at least seems to have some awareness of dire (and not-so-dire) situations, however, considering what he told the Los Angeles Times’ Helene Elliott about the Kings’ 2-0 series deficit to the St. Louis Blues:

“You guys are asking questions that are sort of like end-of-the-world questions,” Sutter said. “It’s really not that.”

Sutter even trotted out potential good news: defenseman Matt Greene might be able to go in Game 3 on Friday.

While the 29-year-old blueliner isn’t the type of addition that would solve all the Kings’ problems, he could help in a very tight series, especially with Sutter acknowledging that some unnamed players are “banged up.”

Tighter defense is great, but the team knows that they need to give Jonathan Quick more goal support.

“You’re not going to win many games when you score one goal. But we’re home and we’ve just got to make sure we take advantage of these home games,” Jarret Stoll said. “Not much room for error now. We know that.”
