Discuss: Sharks stun Canucks, lead series 2-0

The San Jose Sharks are going home with a 2-0 series lead over the Vancouver Canucks after a 3-2 overtime victory Friday night at Rogers Arena.

So…

—- Are the Canucks pretty much dead? It looked like they were going to get a 2-1 win after Ryan Kesler scored twice in the third, but a last-minute Patrick Marleau goal — right after Jannik Hansen had a chance to score into an empty net, only to barely miss — sent the game to extra time.

That’s got to be deflating.

—- The Canucks are now 2-10 in their last 12 playoff games dating back to the 2011 Stanley Cup finals. They’ve also lost six straight at home.

—- San Jose was 17-2-5 at the Shark Tank during the regular season. That place will be even louder than usual on Sunday. And it’s usually pretty darn loud.

—- Defenseman-turned-forward Brent Burns had two assists for the Sharks, including the helper on Raffi Torres‘ OT winner:

What better way to win fans over Raffi!

  2. hammerhead5573 - May 4, 2013 at 1:28 AM

What a surprise….Nucks choke when it counts most.

    • hoovertower - May 4, 2013 at 3:25 AM

Can’t tell if you’re joking…the Sharks are probably the only team in the NHL that have choked more than the Canucks.

    • polegojim - May 4, 2013 at 10:47 AM

      Different year… same results…

Tough thing is that this Canucks team has been good enough to win it all for many years.

I can’t pin-point exactly what the perennial deficiency may be… but it’s consistent.

What will AV whine about this time. “Breakaways are cheating, Sharks cheat”

    • bigtganks - May 4, 2013 at 2:14 AM

OMG, seriously? AV was saying the Sharks cheat on the faceoff, saying Canucks need to cheat. It’s learning how to get in there before the pucks dropped, getting positioning before it’s dropped. Have none of you ever heard of “cheating” in that way? It’s a figure of speech! He didn’t literally mean they’re a bunch of cheaters.

Much like in other sports “he’s cheating towards second base”, etc. I’m sure if AV said the Sharks stole the puck from the DMan, you’d all think he thinks he actually committed theft and “stole” the puck…

      Gimme a break everyone…

      • colby7 - May 4, 2013 at 12:19 PM

“Cheating” in the faceoff circle is a common hockey term. Worst thing is Henrik took his advice and it cost the Canucks a key powerplay.

    Vancupless cannots are done !

  5. 19to77 - May 4, 2013 at 1:45 AM

Amazing. Vancouver finds a way to lose a four-game series in two games. Ryan Kesler, you deserve better. Singlehandedly forced the ‘Nucks back into the game when almost no-one else looked like they were giving their all.

  6. sharkcity408 - May 4, 2013 at 1:45 AM

    Lmfao he’s been CRYIN

  7. valoisvipers - May 4, 2013 at 1:47 AM

Another great loss by Bobby Lou.
Get your brooms ready for game four at the SharkTank.

  9. giantsfan155 - May 4, 2013 at 1:52 AM

what a move by doug wilson, acquiring raffi torres. he must’ve known something us fans didn’t. well played doug, well played.

  10. sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 2:57 AM

LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVE that you loser fans north of the border are suffering tonight. We haven’t forgotten what a bunch of rejects you were when you came down here in 2011. No one in the NHL likes you, we especially don’t like you, and I laughed at the thought of 18,000 of you leaving your building pissed off two nights in a row.

Isn’t it time for you people to start burning your city down yet again? Get your torches ready!

    • hoovertower - May 4, 2013 at 3:16 AM

Glad you haven’t forgotten what happened in 2011.

      • sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 3:24 AM

Not on the ice, you moron: we haven’t forgotten what a bunch of douchebag losers your fans acted like while they were in our building for two games. We deal with Raider fans down here regularly and you idiots somehow managed to out-unclass THEM. LOVVVVVVVVVVE watching you lose. LOVVVVVVVVVVE knowing you all went home crying tonight. Get your torch ready, burn the city again. Another long offseason for the Sedin sisters, Bieksa, your 13-year-old-girl-gum-chewing coach….. All y’all! ;-D

    • waraggie - May 4, 2013 at 7:57 AM

Yeah, your fan base makes all of us proud…..

        LOL.

You’re a Cansucks fan and talking about good and bad fans?

        That’s a riot, literally.

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

      • faulkner22 - May 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM

        LOL.

You’re a Cansucks fan and talking about good and bad fans?

        That’s a riot, literally.

Do we need to go back to what happened in 2011?

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

      • nogoodtomedead - May 4, 2013 at 11:15 AM

As a Raider fan as well as a sharks fan- and sorry to all you who aren’t from the bay area because this isn’t relevant- but there are just as many trash ghetto 49er fans as raider fans- and if you don’t think that then you are a shut in

    • sunderlanding - May 4, 2013 at 4:23 PM

Don’t worry San Jose won’t make the final anyway.

  11. sjsharks66 - May 4, 2013 at 3:08 AM

The torches will wait until after game 4. Hopefully all us sharks fans cheering outside while the traveling canucks have a long teary eyed drive back up north.

  12. sharkcity408 - May 4, 2013 at 3:16 AM

Haha some one got tha cryin joke hahahaha

  13. hoovertower - May 4, 2013 at 3:34 AM

sanjosecupcrazy – I LOVVVVVVVVVVE how you need to capitalize and repeat letters to emphasize your points, just like I LOVVVVVVVVVE how you’re cup crazy when the Sharks are pretty much the only team more playoff pathetic than the Canucks. Only in SJ does two wins make somebody cup crazy, LOL. If you think two losses will make somebody cry, I wonder what you did when Vancouver dispatched the Sharkies in 5 games last time around. I think I saw a youtube video of it.

    • sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 3:51 AM

…..and you’re down 2-0 to us, loser. Scoreboard. Welcome to reality. We rebuilt on the fly. You guys are DONE.

    • sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 3:52 AM

Hoover: You know what BOHICA stands for?

Bend over, here it comes again. ;-)

      • hoovertower - May 4, 2013 at 3:58 AM

I’m afraid I’ve never heard of BOHICA until now. Did they teach that to you in grade school or prison?

  14. sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 4:04 AM

Nah, just came to me while we were sticking it in you guys tonight. Fitting for how you and your fellow classless fans feel after we put it in you on your home ice again. After all, you’ve lost 6 straight there.

    LOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

    • hoovertower - May 4, 2013 at 4:12 AM

It “came to you” while watching the game tonight? No wonder you enjoyed the game so much!!

      • sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 4:15 AM

Ummmmmmmmm…. that makes no sense. Nice try.

      • sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 4:21 AM

BTW, Vancaver Cannot fan, weren’t you the one who just made a remark about elementary school childish remarks. Don’t look now, but you stepped in your own mess, loser.

  15. hoovertower - May 4, 2013 at 4:20 AM

It’s alright cupcrazy. I’ll let you enjoy your two wins like it’s the cup, while meditating on experiences from grade school.

One last question: how cupcrazy can you be when the Sharks have never come close? Or by cup are you referring to your favorite player’s jock strap?

    • sanjosecupcrazy - May 4, 2013 at 4:22 AM

Hoover, that’s right….. You can speak about that because Vancouver has won the cup……. NEVER.

Thanks for setting me straight. Anything else you want to educate me on? Like how to hump a moose or 100 great uses for maple syrup?

      • hoovertower - May 4, 2013 at 4:37 AM

        You’re welcome, any time.

  16. crazemastercraze - May 4, 2013 at 8:21 AM

Bieksa looked like a peewee out there with that pathetic stick check to try and stop the puck. Why didn’t he lay down?

  17. tommytd - May 4, 2013 at 8:26 AM

Good thing they’ve got those Sedin sisters under contract. They are true team leaders. Way to perform when the bright lights are upon you! Cnuckleheads…

  18. 13datsyuk13 - May 4, 2013 at 9:27 AM

I don’t know, being up 2-0 doesn’t mean the series is done. I would be careful shark fans, it is the time of year when crazy things happen.

  19. mclovinhockey - May 4, 2013 at 9:55 AM

I was cheering for the sharks this series, but after seeing how classless and arrogant and asinine CupCrazy is, I will be cheering for a come back.

  20. faulkner22 - May 4, 2013 at 9:57 AM

    TWO GIRLS ZERO CUP.

  21. drewzducks - May 4, 2013 at 10:14 AM

Kessler thinks they “deserved” better? How so? Stop whining and start trying to live up to all the unwarranted hype your team has had over the last 4-5 years or it will be time for a major overhaul.

    • colby7 - May 4, 2013 at 12:22 PM

Kesler did deserve better. He is the only one that gives a crap and he has every right to say that. Guy got shot up with so many painkillers in the second intermission that he actually looked like his old self.

  22. wildbrookie - May 5, 2013 at 7:38 AM

These comments are all priceless, knowing neither team will get close to the cup….The Kings have one cup, which is more than these teams combined. Keep yappin.
