Habs’ Prust calls Sens coach MacLean a ‘bug-eyed fat walrus’

The name-calling has officially begun after just one game of the Montreal-Ottawa series.

And the first name, so far as names go, was a pretty good one.

When asked today about last night’s post-game comments of Senators head coach Paul MacLean, Canadiens forward Brandon Prust said that he didn’t care what “that bug-eyed fat walrus” said.

What MacLean said, if you care, was that Habs defenseman Raphael Diaz was the one to blame for Montreal’s Lars Eller being sent to the hospital after being hit by Ottawa’s Eric Gryba.

“(If I’m Eller), I’m really mad at (Diaz), whoever he is, because he passed me the puck in the middle of the rink when I wasn’t looking,” said MacLean. “That’s always been a dangerous place as far as I know. Ever since I’ve been playing this game, that’s a dangerous place to be — bad things happen.

“I think it’s a hockey play that ended up going badly for Lars Eller.”

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien also ripped MacLean today, calling the comments disrespectful.

Game 2 goes tonight at the Bell Centre.
