Video: PHT Extra — Breaking down Kings and Blues physical play

May 2, 2013, 9:00 AM EDT

Brough and Halford had a chance to talk about the beastly physicality we’ve already seen in the Blues-Kings series and broke down what that means for how things will play out.

They also got a look ahead at what’s cooking for the start of the Caps-Rangers series that gets underway tonight in D.C. Would you believe that puck control would be the key to that one? If you don’t, the guys will tell you what’s up with that.

that was the worst game ive seen the kings play all season. they were dominated for 59:30 of that game until williams tied it up. the only physicality i saw came from the blues. the kings were getting pushed around like a bunch of a kids. the blues played much faster and got to every puck first. they didn’t give any of the kings players anywhere to skate. the kings were skating around like sloths. it was awful. and don’t even get me started on jonathan quick. bernier better get the start tonight

“Take Your Stinkin’ Paws Off Me You Damn Dirty Ape!” …

After watching this interview with Brough and Halford, I suddenly have visions in my head from the original Planet of the Apes movie? Now obviously that’s got nothing to do with the ‘interviewees’ themselves, as they’re both very presentable men who are well spoken and acutely accurate with their remarks. No friends, I think that what these visions are telling me is that we Kings need to avoid being dragged down to this ‘crass and primitive’ level of the Blues. It’s a given to always play an opponent tough. However the bottom line remains to always score as many goals ‘for’ as possible, while at the same time surrendering as few goals ‘against’ as possible. So my hope in going forward starting tonight, is that we Kings rise above this ‘primate’ style of hockey which the Blues are espousing and instead focus on filling their net with rubber ‘to no end’ …

    GO KINGS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

the kings are far and above the primitive and crass team.
sounds like old blomfried is getting all butt-hurt that the Blues are doing the EXACT SAME THING to the kings that they did to us last year. they steamrolled over everyone in the playoffs last year playing that “primitive and crass” style of hockey you seem to suddenly loathe when its being applied to your team.

you want to define “primitave hockey”? go take a look at Sutter, the man in charge. his hockey philosophy has always been and always will be to “run through the opposing teams players” aka – if your team lacks skill to win simply hammer every player on the ice not on your team. ” our 4th line guys need to grind more” translation- we need to get back to being goons.
