Video: Nabokov’s rough night ends early

May 1, 2013, 9:36 PM EDT

The Pittsburgh Penguins have made life pretty miserable for the New York Islanders in Game 1 on Wednesday so far. While John Tavares might be in the running for the toughest night, No. 1 goalie Evgeni Nabokov might be the winner.

He looked shaken up after taking a shot to the face and was replaced by Kevin Poulin after allowing the Penguins’ fourth goal early in the second period. Here’s a video clip that succinctly captures the 37-year-old netminder’s struggles:

Nabby was being swarmed by the Pens and was hit hard enough by that shot that he possibly should have been removed at that point. This was a bad effort as a team for the Isles and Nabby was like the little Dutch boy who just didn’t have enough fingers to plug all the holes in the dam.

I’m with you BC, but my infant son could play a full season without giving up a goal to Tanner freaking Glass. That was just bad.

anyway, the score’s irrelevant. gotta steal game two before heading home. weak effort tonight.

    Iggy knocked out the goalie.
