Video: Neal gets hat trick in return from concussion

Apr 27, 2013, 11:06 PM EST

From a standings perspective, Pittsburgh’s 8-3 victory against Carolina was meaningless, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t noteworthy for other reasons.

Penguins forward James Neal returned from a concussion tonight after missing roughly three weeks. He ended up finding the back of the net three times and recording an assist in his return.

You can watch his heroics below:

It certainly looks like he’s ready for the Penguins’ postseason opener, although it’s worth adding that he was eased into the lineup with 13:08 minutes of ice time.

Pittsburgh defenseman Paul Martin also returned after missing about a month with a hand injury. He logged 23:31 minutes and recorded two assists.

    well islanders, your on deck.

It appears a lil time off did him so good. Neal-Malkin-Iginla is looking to be scary good…

Sure – except, you know, that Kunitz was playing with them. Looks like Bylsma has decided 14-71-18 and 9-87-12 is the way to go.

    This team is overwhelming

Keep hanging on last years Flyers PO win. That’s all you’ve got for another year.

The law of averages would contradict you invalid opinion. Keep hating….loser

Awe did you hear the flyers fan make a sad comment. Enjoy watching our team in the playoffs. Hey there’s always basketball to watch.

    • pens5829 - Apr 28, 2013 at 10:11 AM

How about those Phillies? That’s right. They suck too.

  5. murtdurt - Apr 28, 2013 at 9:17 AM

Does anyone know why Neal switched to a tinted visor? I guess it doesn’t really matter when your coming off a concussion and dropping a hatty. Neal among others (Malkin/Martin/Morrow) looked focused tonight not a team I would want to deal with in the 1st round

    • eigglesnosuperbowls - Apr 28, 2013 at 10:19 AM

Its tinted because sidneys new chicklets will blind you

    • chanceoffleury1 - Apr 28, 2013 at 11:31 AM

Probably to dim down the brightness of the arena a little bit. That was my guess. If he keeps scoring like that he can wear one of those douchey yellow ones for all I care! Haha!

  6. ironcity6pak - Apr 28, 2013 at 9:48 AM

The tinted visor is for blocking out the bright light so it won’t trigger headaches. That alone sounds to me he’s not symptom free.

    • eigglesnosuperbowls - Apr 28, 2013 at 10:22 AM

It wont block out a well placed elbow

Ahh, I like the happy Gilmore reference!!

As I have said before in a different post, I hope Bryzgaylov hits his ball deep into the woods and finds a bear.

    • broadstreetbeatdown - Apr 28, 2013 at 8:23 PM

Infatuated by an bunch of overhyped under achievers? Nah. You guys are just so funny thinking youre going to win the cup.
