Video: Alex Ovechkin scores another highlight reel goal

Apr 25, 2013, 10:26 PM EDT

While goal No. 32 only earned the Washington Capitals a charity point they didn’t really need anyway,* it might be enough for Alex Ovechkin to garner his third career Maurice Richard Trophy.

Perhaps just as importantly, Ovechkin’s goal against the Ottawa Senators in Thursday’s 2-1 OT loss provided more evidence that the “old” Ovechkin is back:

That might just be good enough to become a part of his 2013 Hart Trophy nominee montage, eh?

* – The Caps are locked into the East’s third seed thanks to their Southeast Division title.

Man, what a stud he’s been the last 2 months.

Caps look content to “back into the playoffs.”

Guess they don’t want the pressure of being “hot” or on a “streak.”

Sure hope these playoffs go differently than the last 5 or 6 times.

What are you talking about, they are 10-1-1 in their last 12. That’s not hot enough?

Holtby did a phenomenal job holding the Caps in this game. Sens just let loose a barrage on them all night. Halfway through the second the shot count for the period was 15-2 Sens, and the Caps’ commentator said in the video that Ovi’s goal was their first shot of the third. Way more one-sided than the score implies. Great, great game by Holtby.

NEWSFLASH……..Holtby didn’t play tonight, what game were you watching?

lol, i was thinking the same thing…but he is right about one thing….they did put up a ton of shots (40 something?) not even including all the ones they took from the point that didnt reach the goal. they were teeing off on them and dominated the caps for 80% of the game in their zone. i was surprised to say the least, neuvirth did a good job.

Neuvy? Ha he played so well you thought it was holtby!
Thought it was great that neil kept turning down invitations to go with erskine.
But, the effort last night was pretty up and down. I dont know what it is but ottawa has had our number all year.

Caps have had problems with the Sens all year. For that reason I fear for our chances of getting past the first round if the two teams meet up in the playoffs.

Great goal by the Gr8. Good to see he can score against Anderson. He might need to come next week.

Senators scare me in a 7 game series. Especially with Anderson standing on his head as of late and with Karlsson being back.

    Juicing. Again.
