Report: Crosby could be back for playoffs

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby could be back in the lineup when Pittsburgh opens the playoffs next week, according to a report in the Post-Gazette.

Crosby, who has not played since his jaw was fractured by a deflected shot March 30, is expected to seek medical clearance today or Friday to resume playing.

If that’s given, he would not return to the lineup for the Penguins’ game at New Jersey tonight or the regular-season finale Saturday against Carolina at Consol Energy Center, but dressing for Game 1 of the playoffs is not out of the question at this point.

Although the playoff schedule won’t be released for several days, the Penguins will open at home, almost certainly on Wednesday.

In addition to undergoing the examination to determine how well his jaw is healing, Crosby could be facing extensive dental work in the next few days.

With 56 points in 36 games, Crosby was the runaway leading candidate to win the Hart Trophy and Art Ross Trophy before he was injured.

And i’ sure that the cheesehead, like most people from NYC, is a complete puss and a blowhard who’s all bark and no bite. Post your home address, Cheese, and let’s see how tough you are.

@2jivecrew – haha “post your home address”? What a total clown!!

I thought this was a foregone conclusion?

  12. falstaffsmind - Apr 25, 2013 at 2:19 PM

I wonder if Marty and Stammer overtaking his points total had anything to do with it?

    • jpelle82 - Apr 25, 2013 at 3:11 PM

considering “marty” and “stammer” will be golfing and arent contending for playoff points or the conn smythe, i dont think it has anything to do with his decision to return for the playoffs.

  13. bman7206 - Apr 25, 2013 at 2:25 PM

He would have been back 2 weeks ago if he had any heart.

    • laxman1944 - Apr 25, 2013 at 3:18 PM

I’m not a big Sid fan either (whining) but don’t want to see a player of his skill lose a career because of concussions..

The Flyers lost 2 Captains (Keith Primeu and Eric) in the prime of their careers because of concussions……those types of players are pretty hard to replace last time I checked.

    • hockeywithdrawal - Apr 26, 2013 at 4:01 PM

      For what purpose?

  16. idmfcarrier - Apr 25, 2013 at 3:42 PM

If you don’t know hockey, don’t post about hockey. If you think Sid is soft or a whiner, you don’t know hockey. There isn’t an owner, GM or coach who wouldn’t take Sid in a heartbeat. Any fan who says they wouldn’t want him on their team is a liar or they don’t know hockey.

Chirping at a ref after a call IS NOT whining, that’s a team captains JOB. Getting your jaw broken does not make you soft. Idiots.

The real whining I see is from fans of every team not from Pittsburgh. So cry, cry, cry little babies.

    • bman7206 - Apr 25, 2013 at 3:48 PM

Kids a soft, whining baby with refs in his pocket. Sorry that Pens fans can’t see it. Clown.

      • idmfcarrier - Apr 25, 2013 at 3:54 PM

….as you write this from your mom’s basement covered in cheetos dust sobbing to yourself because little Becky next door thinks you are a tub of lard and laughs at you as you wiggle by on your way to the short bus in whatever loser town you live in that has crappy sports teams.

      • 2jivecrew - Apr 25, 2013 at 4:38 PM

And yet you’d never in a million years have the stones to say that to “the Kid’s” face lest he punt you across the county like a football. But then I bet most poeple could have their way with you pretty easily.

      • bman7206 - Apr 25, 2013 at 5:57 PM

        Pens first round exit.

  17. jimeejohnson - Apr 25, 2013 at 8:45 PM

In other news, the cheesesteaks didn’t even make the playoffs. Flyers sucks. Just kidding. About the cheesesteak.

    • jimeejohnson - Apr 25, 2013 at 8:46 PM

Flyers sucks! That’s a good one. F. U. grammar police!
