Video: Horton leaves game after fighting Iginla

Apr 20, 2013, 1:47 PM EST

Today’s game between the Penguins and Bruins was emotionally charged on many levels but the dislike of Jarome Iginla by fans in Boston may now have an added layer to it.

Iginla dropped the gloves with Bruins rugged forward Nathan Horton for a short, seemingly uneventful bout in the first period. Check out the action courtesy of hockeyfights.com.

Horton headed straight to the locker room following the fight appearing to be shaking his hand. During the first intermission, the Bruins announced Horton would not return to the game because of an injury.

We’ll keep you posted on just what’s wrong with Horton, but Boston fans should hope that the issue doesn’t have to do with his head after he’s gone through concussion issues the past few years.

    Talk about insult to injury….

  2. jacketsfan7 - Apr 20, 2013 at 1:56 PM

That’s why it was a bad idea to scratch lucic

    • hockeywithdrawal - Apr 20, 2013 at 2:17 PM

no offense but that’s bs. The always classy B’s and their fans were going straight after Iginla all day – butthurt, is the best word to describe their actions. Never happy for an injury – but several other B’s I’d like to see sit for the day.

      You havent seen him play

  3. eigglesnosuperbowls - Apr 20, 2013 at 2:01 PM

    That wasn’t a fight !

    • handsofsweed - Apr 20, 2013 at 3:53 PM

Yeah, that was a 0-0 draw.

      • eigglesnosuperbowls - Apr 20, 2013 at 6:36 PM

Weed,,, you described it better than not a fight !

  4. crusty14 - Apr 20, 2013 at 2:01 PM

Can’t see why it would be a concussion, no punches were really even landed! Obviously in the video he skates off holding his hand, I’m guessing a broken knuckle or perhaps a wrist injury. It kinda looked like his left wrist was tangled up in iggys jersey as they went down.

  5. odj810 - Apr 20, 2013 at 2:11 PM

that quader injury is gonna be much worse. it looked like horton banged up his hand. but mcquaid can be a knee or worse the femer. that looked bad.

  6. modellforprez - Apr 20, 2013 at 2:25 PM

Ah hahaha iggy was just about to give your mans the sloppies and every bruin fan tell JACK EDWARDS Master “the assasian” cooke says your not strong your weak minded and small very very small. whatchu wanna do beanface???

    • handsofsweed - Apr 20, 2013 at 3:55 PM

Jesus. Shut the hell up already, you semi-literate turd.

Let’s Go Pens. But not you. You’re a douchebag.

  7. ironcity6pak - Apr 20, 2013 at 2:39 PM

Just stupid to punch a helmet, I don’t get it

    • hazlydose - Apr 20, 2013 at 3:25 PM

They both took their helmets off before any punches were thrown

  8. polegojim - Apr 20, 2013 at 2:47 PM

Iginla may be past his prime, but you gotta love a guy who can truly PLAY the game… and won’t take crap off anyone.

  9. valoisvipers - Apr 20, 2013 at 3:10 PM

Serves Horton right, shouldn’t have gone after Iggy the way he did, just because Iggy chose the Pens over the Bruins. He had every right to choose where he went to play this year.

  10. nicknyhc - Apr 20, 2013 at 3:27 PM

How dare somebody challenge a Pens player to a fight!

I guess Horton didn’t get the memo that Iginla is now “off limits” because he plays for Pittsburgh. I have nothing against Iggy, but if the Pens fans give him the Crosby golden boy treatment then fans of other teams will grow to resent him. Why is it that guys like Cooke and Neal can get dirty with whoever they please, but the second that a player from another team challenges a Pens player all of a sudden words like “classless” and “gutless” are thrown around constantly?

Pens fans make anyone resent their players.

By the way, Iginla is actually a pretty good fighter. No need to baby him.

    • drone501 - Apr 20, 2013 at 3:31 PM

this from an idiot whos team used to employ sean avery.

      • nicknyhc - Apr 20, 2013 at 4:14 PM

Yes, my favorite team had a player who acted like a dick. That player also played for 3 other teams in the league. That player hasn’t played in 2 years, and there are many other players like that in the league on various teams.

        Get over it.

    • handsofsweed - Apr 20, 2013 at 4:02 PM

Yeah. Your pre-conceived notions are getting in the way of your ability to think critically. Are you dumb enough to use “constantly” to describe one solitary, idiot Pens’ troll that ANOTHER PENS FAN took care of? Yep. That’s you and your inability to separate fantasy from reality. Good for you.

      • nicknyhc - Apr 20, 2013 at 4:12 PM

I actually wasn’t talking about what Modellforprez wrote. I was talking about the whining coming from Hockwithdrawal, and the whining of several other Pens fans on other threads in the last few weeks.

Players from other teams are going to fight players from your team. Get over it. Iggy didn’t seem to mind, and did pretty well!

Your players are not special, and the rules, both written and unwritten, apply to them the same way they apply to the players of other teams. Stop being cry babies!

      • sportsfreak13 - Apr 20, 2013 at 8:28 PM

Nicknyhc did see Nash hide behind Callahan and giradi on the bench while yelling at Cooke in the last game vs the pens? Hahaha yea were the scared ones.

    • hockeywithdrawal - Apr 20, 2013 at 6:59 PM

      Such a douche

  11. tdrusher225 - Apr 20, 2013 at 3:59 PM

At least Bruins fans can be happy it’s not a head injury. Hope he gets well soon!

  12. rushledger - Apr 20, 2013 at 4:12 PM

Hortons fault here, he wanted to fight, Iggy accepted, he either threw out his shoulder or messed up his hand by punching, Iggy DID NOT injure Horton. Simple as that.

  13. agc99 - Apr 20, 2013 at 4:19 PM

    Iggy rules!

  14. malkinrulez - Apr 20, 2013 at 4:25 PM

nicknyhc sounds like someone is a tad jealous. What Pens fan has whined about someone fighting? I will say if ur talking about Crosby it depends who is asking him to dance. That being said do u recall anyone going after Gretzky? Their is an unwritten rule for skill players like it or not

    • nicknyhc - Apr 21, 2013 at 9:00 PM

Yes, every fan of every other team sits around all day jealous about how great the mighty Penguins are. This type of arrogance is why your fan base has become so disliked in the last few years.

The Rangers did just fine in the home and home a couple weeks ago against the Pens. A 6-1 victory and a shootout lost, taking away 3 out of a possible 4 points.

Yes, I do recall many players going after Gretzky. Later on in his career he became a target, like a lot of great players. Gretzky was in a few scraps over the course of his career, but obviously that wasn’t his game.

Not sure how old you are, but Gretzky really didn’t spend much time on the Rangers. Finished his career in NY but his prime was spent in Edmonton and LA.

Bruins continue to suck…Steel Town hands them their lunch.

    • mazblast - Apr 21, 2013 at 11:51 PM

The Bruins are currently the #2 seed and IIRC are the defending champions. They don’t suck.

Just like the Ravens, you show respect for the champions until they’re no longer the champions.

When our Pens or Steelers are the champs, we expect people to show our teams respect until our teams are “dethroned”, and we should do likewise.

  16. bobhpine - Apr 21, 2013 at 4:39 AM

Eiggles, maybe you should go outside and get some sun, take a walk or something. Do you have friends? Can you afford match.com? All you seem to do is root agains the Penguins. You must be a real winner.
