The situation in Boston

Apr 19, 2013, 10:46 AM EDT

With residents being asked to remain indoors as authorities try to apprehend the remaining suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, the Bruins and Penguins have canceled their morning skates ahead of tonight’s game at TD Garden.

The Bruins have also postponed today’s playoff tickets sale until Monday at 11:00 a.m. ET.

No word yet if tonight’s game will go ahead as planned. The Bruins were already forced to postpone Monday’s game versus the Senators until April 28.

In the grand scheme of things this game is not really important. Let’s make sure the crazy person has been taken care of and the people of Boston are safe before a sporting event is even considered. Lets Go Pens!

  2. prosportswashington - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:01 AM

They were never going to get away with it, really though….in broad daylight and in such a gutless way nobody was going to let them get away with it

I just hope they find this guy and no other innocent bystanders are affected in the process. Hockey can wait.

  4. nhbsfan - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:11 AM

How about if they catch the guy this afternoon, they drag him into TD Garden, tie him to one of the nets without any padding, and let Chara go through a bucket of pucks and see if he can finally hit 130mph.

    • ucaneverscorenoughgoals - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:27 AM

I rather boston assign a couple officers to supervise him as he cleans the toilets in every sports venue in the city…… after game after game. In doing so he’s perpetuating that which he tried to tear down, and he can’t use death as an escape.

      • bcsteele - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:37 AM

I agree with you. But it wouldn’t hurt (us anyway) for Chara to go to town on him first.

      • ucaneverscorenoughgoals - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:51 AM

It would entertaining to watch but, I don’t want to make a martyr out of him by creating a spectacle. He doesn’t deserve that!

Forcing him to clean up our crap after we enjoy sporting events which speak to our freedoms on various levels is a slap in the face to any rebel or radical who is anti-US. It’s more embarrassing and painful than almost any physical pain because they are willing to give up their lives to achieve their cause. I want his punishment to mock their cause.

    • myroncopesflask - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:31 AM

I like this idea with Chara getting letting loose on some slappers from between the circles. I would add a twist though. I would let Tyler Kennedy get 10 free shots at him. He wouldn’t hit him because he stinks but he would scare the crap of this whack job as well as the people in the 1st 10 rows behind the net.

      • steelpenbucs87 - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:38 AM

I laughed at this idea… but for added emphasis, TK would have to carry the puck down the right wing boards, then take a bad angle slapper. Then it would be truly TK.

Obviously, you don’t play the game if its not 100% safe, but if it were to be postponed, they have to put it on the 30th right? Otherwise one or both teams are going to have to go back-to-back-to-back at some point in the last week of the season. And if that’s the date, and all playoff seeding is locked up, it’ll be interesting to see how the B’s and Pens approach that game with the playoffs around the corner.

Stay safe Boston and hopefully this is all over soon.

Let Oprik shoot too, he’ll get him square in the mouth

  5. bostonstrong28 - Apr 19, 2013 at 11:57 AM

sports aside but us as ppl know that games can wait just want this dirt bag to be takein down dead or alive idc I’ve been soo up and down about this so mad and sad but gunna stay boston strong and know that the good will win over bad in the game of life

  6. jkay1818 - Apr 19, 2013 at 12:07 PM

How about we tie his friends and ex HS classmates to the net and start firing at them? the ones who are coming forward now saying they knew it was him on TV and it looked just like him but they didn’t want to believe it since he was such a cool dude. If these people would have came forward days ago we could have avoided all of this.
As far the one living, forget tying him to the net, just shoot his ass.

    • psudu - Apr 19, 2013 at 12:54 PM

He does not deserve to die quick…make it long, drawn out, and make him suffer. He has now come out, on Twitter, and stated that he wants to kill all the Boston police because they killed his brother. Tie him to a chair and let one of his bombs go off…shredding his legs, and his arms…

  7. panicatthedistrict - Apr 19, 2013 at 12:45 PM

Heck, get Ovechkin to join in the target practice, too.

    • bcsteele - Apr 19, 2013 at 12:55 PM

And as a sign of unity during an invent like this….have Crosby feed him the one timer.

  8. myroncopesflask - Apr 19, 2013 at 12:58 PM

Or we could just send him back to Chechnya… I would rather die than have to go back to that place. I had a quick cup of coffee in that place in the mid 90’s when I was in the Army. I understand it was a long time ago but that place was hell.

I’ve been watching coverage of this all day, it might be the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen.

  10. steelers88 - Apr 19, 2013 at 1:51 PM

Umm…. How are the Penguins getting out of Boston???? They have a game against Buffalo tomorrow I’m thinking that game might be canceled as well.

    • drewsylvania - Apr 19, 2013 at 1:52 PM

For some reason I thought they hadn’t left their previous location yet.

  11. drewsylvania - Apr 19, 2013 at 1:54 PM

I live in Malden, a few miles north of the city, and work in Boston.

I’m doing double-takes every few minutes–“Is this actually happening?”

    • drewsylvania - Apr 19, 2013 at 4:41 PM

      A downthumb–pretty awesome.

From the headline I thought this story was about the Jersey Shore character.
