Video: Red Wings’ Franzen scores from center ice

Apr 18, 2013, 12:29 AM EDT

On a night when Calgary Flames fans were celebrating the career of Miikka Kiprusoff, the veteran 36-year-old goaltender will be cast on the highlights in part because of a goal he let in from center ice.

Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen got his team to within a goal with under three minutes remaining in the third period, bouncing a backhand shot from just inside the Calgary side of center ice and by Kiprusoff. The Flames, however, hung on for the 3-2 victory and Kiprusoff made 36 saves on Wednesday.

The night was Osgoodian in its goal keeper comedy…

Kiprusoff couldn’t let Howard hog the limelight on stupid dumb-ass bonehead plays could he…bring on the clowns, oh wait, they’re already here?

But Howard was not without his accomplices was he? With Wings going out to the coast, Babcock should run the boys up the Fraser Valley, find some barns, then see if they can hit those…they sure as hell can’t hit wide open nets!

Somebody give Franzen and Zetterberg a slap upside their heads, maybe that will wake them up and remind them they’re fighting for their playoff lives and should be hammering third rate teams like the Flames!

    What a disgrace…

^^^ Your team has appeared in 6 Stanley Cup Finals and won 4 Stanley Cups since 1997.

It has also made the playoffs a whopping 21 seasons in a row and won numerous Division titles, Conference titles, and President’s Trophies while featuring a lineup littered with future Hall of Famers.

    STOP WHINING

    Canucks30:

It’s good you can tag video of the Cloutier whiff, the play is at the soul of every blackened embittered Canucks supporter who have institutionalized the art of the whine.

So much so, the Canucks and their fan-base are the singularly most disliked in hockey, bar none! I’ve never seen a team and its fans draw publicly expressed dislike from other teams and players as do the Canucks and their fans…why is that do you suppose?

Whereas teams like to beat Detroit because of superior history and play, the very hallmark of excellence in hockey, teams like to beat Vancouver because of a recent history of snivelling managers, and diving fairy dancing posers who embarrass an otherwise proud city! And then there were the riots, the living embodiment of spoiled brats wielding bic lighters, smart phones and evident inability to hold their liquor! The definitive and culturally entrenched whine seemingly representative of west coast culture from 1994 onward trumps otherwise great play and players in the franchises history.

Like Flames supporters who in the present still cling to the non goal versus Tampa, Canucks supporters nurture grievances including the Peplinski kick-in and the Cloutier miss. In both series, Canucks were simply not good enough…move on! In 2002, Wings were by far the superior team and ran the table in four after losing the first two, both of which featured dominating Wings’ play regardless!

In the meantime, close the door on the way out! But don’t trip on twenty two pound Canucks’ excuse manual, we’ve yet to install pages from the 2013 debacle…peasant!

Well, you are going to have to cheer for Vancouver on Thursday because if they lose to Dallas, the Red Wings drop to 10th place in the West and the Stars move to 9th.

FYI, Otto kicked it in. But I am impressed with your knowledge of Canuck trivia. It’s wrong, but impressive nonetheless. The Cloutier whiff doesn’t rank very highly in terms of grievances – we were outmatched in that series from the start. It just would have been nice to knock out the #1 seed.

Btw, what do they feed you for sports news over there? Whatever sells I suppose.

Still not as bad as this:

hsnepts: for your information, nobody kicked the puck in…that was the point; Canucks fans have been whining about that one for nearly twenty five years.

The reference was general…Peplinski shot the puck, it deflected off Otto’s skate who was himself, dragged into the crease. As I recall, Peplinski was given the goal, then it was changed to Otto…

I was at the game, you…I was also at game six in Vancouver?

As for sports information hereabouts, it’s the same homer garbage as in every city…have to feel for Vancouver though, the curse of John Garrett, you wear it well!
