Video: Jared Spurgeon shaken up by Jordan Eberle hit

Apr 16, 2013, 10:27 PM EDT

Edmonton Oilers stars are developing a habit of leaving Minnesota Wild players banged up.

First, it was Taylor Hall who received a two-game suspension for his questionable hit on Cal Clutterbuck in late March. Tuesday provided an even more surprising sight as Jordan Eberle left Jared Spurgeon a little dazed thanks to this check:

Spurgeon seemed like he was caught off guard, which likely factored into the situation. Eberle received a two-minute boarding minor for that check.

We’ll see if that’s the only punishment for the 22-year-old forward.

Edmonton area hospitals are reporting an unusually busy tuesday night…

It would appear broken arms, sprained wrists, cutting and bleeding from broken beer bottle shards and a surprising increase in dislocated jaws are taxing hospital emergency rooms to the limit?

At first, it was thought the injuries were product of yet another night of drunken brawling from local bars, an Edmonton staple, but nooooo!

Patients are unanimous in claiming they were hurt falling off chairs and dropping jaws upon seeing Jordan Eberle actually attempt a body check?

The Guinness Book of World Records claims Eberle was a mere eight years four months and ninety nine days from catching Wayne Gretzky’s seemingly unreachable record for consecutive games without throwing a body check!

    More from Pierre later…

Gotta give a thumbs up for this one. I always appreciate a good smart-a$$; very clever post countrybear. So how high are you exactly??

The first meeting between these two clubs next year will be interesting to say the least.

Plenty of hunting on a few oilers from the Wilds 3rd and 4th lines I think.

    (Mr burns) release the hounds

What about their game next week?

      • lordfletcher - Apr 17, 2013 at 9:59 AM

Exactly. Two points are much more important to a team trying to make the playoffs than getting back… if that was the case, Hall would be skating scared post his Clutterbuck hit. Hall next year will find himself having a few fun games vs the Wild and Yotes.

Edmonton has a serious team issue / management problem. The talent is there but it time for them to shake it up and make a trade this summer. Sad to say the only young forward I’d want would be RNH.

Eagerly anticipating this game next year…these greasy Oilers deserve everything they get as well…cheap-shot artists and primadonna punks the lot of ‘em!

      @ bethgoesglobal:
Next week is too important for the Wild to throw away on a revenge game…it can wait. Revenge is always sweeter after stewing for a while anyway!
