Boudreau stresses Anaheim’s lack of goal scoring of late

For a good part of the season, scoring goals wasn’t a big problem for the Anaheim Ducks. Things as of late aren’t quite so hot for them and after dropping a 2-1 decision to the rival L.A. Kings last night, coach Bruce Boudreau let it be known.

L.A. Kings Insider’s Jon Rosen heard it from Boudreau after last night’s game about how some guys are in a bit of a drought.

“We had chances to take the lead. We had chances to tie it up. We just didn’t get it done,” Boudreau said. “We aren’t scoring any goals. Look at the numbers of guys who haven’t scored in a long time now. What our strength at the beginning of the year was that everybody was scoring now it’s a weakness because nobody is scoring. To win hockey games you have to score goals”

Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register highlighted some of the guys that aren’t producing of late.

Bobby Ryan has one goal in his last 13 games, Doug Winnik has no goals in his last 19 games and just one in his last 38 after a torrid start, and Saku Koivu hasn’t scored in his last 15 games and has just one in his last 22. That’s not getting it done at all.

Piling on to this, the Ducks have cooled off being an average team with eight losses in their last 13 games. Yes, they’re going to the playoffs but they’re looking less intimidating at the wrong time.

Kings win close, hard-fought game and the write-up is about the Ducks and why they aren’t scoring of late. I don’t know about their other games as I don’t follow them, but the Kings play good defense and Quickie is rounding into the form he showed last season.

The Kings are 103-1-11 in the last 115 games when leading after two periods (since April 4, 2009). They have won five straight over the Ducks at Staples and are 10-1-3 there since the start of ’08-’09.

If Quick stays at home on that shorthanded goal the Ducks are likely shut out. Maybe the Ducks are having issues scoring against other teams, but they weren’t going to get many against the Kings at home anyway.

Quick is a moron and that goal proved it

Quick still has his cup hangover. that’s how I see it.
He made a few good saves last night. let’s hope he’s getting over the hangover and catching cup fever!

Sorry friends, but I just don’t see any bias against our beloved Kings on the part of PHT and it’s cadre of excellent writers. Yerdon, O’Brien, Halford, Tucker, Dadoun … these people know what they’re talking about and they give us the facts here “day in and day out”. Now of course their message is often augmented with amusing humor, sarcasm and wit. But that in my opinion, is “exactly” what makes PHT superior to the multitudes of otherwise boring hockey websites. This is the only electronic forum which I allow myself to partake, as I’m averse to electronic communication & relations in general. Yet since discovering this excellent website at the beginning of last year, I’ve become an ardent and avid supporter, to the point where reading PHT is now a staple of my daily routine! :)

the bottom line: we Kings defeated the Ducks last night and we’re now poised to takeover the Pacific Division lead from them, Quick is becoming his old “Conn Smythe” self again, Doughty’s starting to score like a “madman”, Carter’s on track to win the overall scoring race, our defense is so “rock-solid” that Greene is apparently out of a job (as if) … and on and on it goes … so I say “big deal” if PHT throws a bone to the Ducks and their coach’s post-game jibberish !

What’s with the quotes all over the place whenever you post? They’re really not needed at all and improperly used to boot… I think someone needs to freshen up on the “English language” and the use of proper “punctuation”.

It’s Daniel Winnik, Joe. If you don’t know the roster, you could at least glance at the Wiki page before posting.
