Caps ‘can’t quite get a handle’ on Laich’s injury

Washington Capitals forward Brooks Laich missed the first 28 games of the season due to a groin injury. His return only lasted for nine games before he left Thursday’s contest.

This whole ordeal has put Laich, 29, in a very unfamiliar position. Coming into this season, he had only missed four contests over his last five campaigns.

On top of that, it looks like this injury has puzzled the Capitals too, who are hoping a specialist can shed some light on Laich’s status, according to CSN Washington.

“We can’t quite get a handle on what it is,” Capitals coach Adam Oates said. “He just doesn’t feel good. He’s a little sore everywhere, but not necessarily where he was in the groin. That’s why he’s seeing a specialist that he’s been seeing.”

Laich has been one of the Capitals more reliable secondary scorers in recent years. From 2008-09 to 2011-12, Laich recorded between 41 and 59 points per season.

That doesn’t sound very promising. All the best. The caps could really use him in their stretch run

thats not good…. hearing this I wish it was just a groin problem. I hope no long term problems arise because of this such as some medical condition

He probably has a pinched nerve

I feel for Laich. One of my favorite Caps over the years. Hope all goes well. We need him in the lineup as much as Ovi, imo.
