Video: Marian Gaborik finds net in first Blue Jackets game

Apr 4, 2013, 10:28 PM EDT

Jaromir Jagr, Derick Brassard and Ryane Clowe have company in the “scoring a goal in your first game with a new team” club, as Marian Gaborik finished off a fabulous Brandon Dubinsky setup for his inaugural tally as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets:

Gaborik also collected an assist on James Wisniewski‘s power-play marker and had a partial breakaway that was turned aside by Pekka Rinne.

It’s too early to call any of these moves slam dunks, but at least these players are providing instant gratification for excited fans.

My boys had a front row seat to the NYR additions – they looked solid on Wednesday.

With that said, the reason you picked them up isn’t for April, it was for May. Given the additions the Rangers, the Bruins, and the Pens made, the Sens starting to get healthy (and adding Conacher – wow), plus the Caps starting to play well…. May is going to be a GREAT month for Eastern Conference hockey.

I have watched Gabby playing for the Rangers for the last 3 years. He has phenomenal offensive abilities, but at times, he has had his defensive shortcomings. Thus, the struggles with Torts.
I am glad he also had a successful debut with the Blueshirts west… I mean Blue Jackets, and hope he can get some of his spark back.
All in all, I think this trade will definitely help both teams.
