Flyers’ Rinaldo out indefinitely with high-ankle sprain

Another Philadelphia Flyers player has been sidelined with an injury this season, as a high-ankle sprain leaves Zac Rinaldo out indefinitely, according to CSNPhilly.com’s Sarah Baicker.

Rinaldo, 22, isn’t an essential player for the Flyers – five points in 32 games played (averaging 8:23 minutes per game) – but his physical style likely endears himself to fans yearning for the franchise’s most fearsome days. He racked up 85 PIM this season after totaling 232 in 66 games last season.

If Wednesday represented the tough guy’s last game of this campaign, at least he went out with a bang. He had quite the rumble with rugged Montreal Canadiens forward Brandon Prust, which you can watch here.

The guy draws a ton of calls and plays very hard. He isn’t the dirty player of last year.

    • melonheadsdaddy - Apr 4, 2013 at 9:39 PM

I agree…he was almost unbearable last year…much improved overall as a player!

Since Cooke was capable of reforming his game why not Rinaldo?

      • broadstreetbeatdown - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:16 PM

Rinaldo is light years ahead of Cooke as a professional. Cooke is a scumbag who faced an ultimatum of either clean up your disgusting head hunting or be banished from the league forever. although I do agree that he has cleaned up his game.

Broadstreet your “facts” are completely corrupted. Please take the piss and vinegar out of your water before you share it.

    • valoisvipers - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:41 PM

Broadstreetbeatdown Glad that you agree that Cooke has indeed reformed but if you look at his numbers the last couple of years he is the one that is light years ahead as a professional.Hope it works out that well for Rinaldo too.

      • isithockeyseasonyet - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:47 PM

Cooke is no longer a scumbag, he became a decent player who does his job, same as rinaldo

Most boring story this year. Just another ginger jerseyed loser. NEXT

It wasn’t a misleading title, your dumbass clicked through to read it. I am sure the author is very sorry it was not the nukes in North Korea article you were expecting.

    • parkway4 - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:06 PM

You’re right, I like the one about Sidney losing all his teeth.

    • broadstreetbeatdown - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:09 PM

Fanboy troll alert!!! Go change Cindy’s diaper pole smoker.

  3. hockeyfan28 - Apr 4, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Man get well soon Zac you are missed but on the other hand people who wanted to trade Sean Courterier for anything these last two games since the trade deadline are why you don’t do that and you don’t belong making gm decisions for any franchise except maybe the penguins

  4. phillyphanatic77 - Apr 4, 2013 at 9:56 PM

This is a big loss despite what trolling Pens fans (gamechanger87 is a dumbass anyway) say. Rinaldo has gone out every second of every game. AND Kimmo is injured as well. I’ve never seen a team experience this many injuries and keep winning. Flyers are easily top 2 in man games lost.

    • phillyphanatic77 - Apr 4, 2013 at 9:57 PM

      *gone all out

      • ibieiniid - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:45 PM

wait what’s this you’re saying about Timonen hurt just below this comment? hopefully you said the wrong name. i was forced into watching the leafs broadcast and they didn’t mention anything.

      • ibieiniid - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:58 PM

        f’n sigh… that’s rough.

      • phillyphanatic77 - Apr 4, 2013 at 11:01 PM

Yeah I wish I had said the wrong name but Timonen left early in the 3rd with a lower body injury. And you know it must be bad because he always plays through injuries. Can’t catch a break but they’ve managed to win without all those other guys so maybe they can survive.

    • letsgopens8771 - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:05 PM

I am not a “trolling” Pens fan, but I just want to point out that the Pens made it past Ottawa in a Playoff series minus Sid and Geno, and if there is anyone who knows dealing with injuries to key players, it begins and ends with Pittsburgh.

      • broadstreetbeatdown - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:11 PM

If anyone knows about consecutive first round exits it is also Pittsburgh.

      • phillyphanatic77 - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:26 PM

Coburn, Grossman, Mez, Briere, Rinaldo, Talbot, and now Timonen… the Pens may have lost superstars but there’s no way to compare what the Flyers have lost there. Seven key players, 4 straight wins. And I wasn’t referring to you… gamechanger87 and ahole26 are the trolls.

      • ml3939 - Apr 4, 2013 at 11:18 PM

The Flyers beat the cup favorite Pens without Pronger in their line up last year. I would say they are adept too. Sid and Geno are arguably the two best players in the world but many would argue it is tougher to overcome the loss of a hall of fame defenseman in the playoffs who plays nearly half of the game.

I am glad I am the first to say this, but:

  8. mclovinhockey - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:17 PM

Gamechanger87, despite this Philly Pitt war. I wanna let you know you are making it harder for the real pens fans to show they are respectable.

You are arrogant, asinine and ignorant. I think besides you, are and and you don’t know the meaning of the other words in the sentence but ill let you know that you should feel insulted.
