Blues re-sign Porter: two years, $1.35 million

On Thursday, the St. Louis Blues announced a two-year contract extension for forward Chris Porter.

Porter, 28, was originally a Chicago draftee that signed with the Blues in 2007, making his NHL debut during the 2008-09 season.

This new deal — $650k this year, $700k next year — is a solid chuck of change for a fringe player that’s been up and down between St. Louis and AHL Peoria for most of his career, but the key for Porter is that the deal’s a one-way:

Porter has appeared in 15 games for the Blues this year, scoring 1G-1A with a plus-3 rating. He was recalled to the club in late February and has been a lineup fixture ever since.
