The Boston Bruins have added some depth on defense, acquiring Wade Redden from St. Louis for a seventh-round draft pick (per CSNNE.com).

Redden, of course, was freed from AHL purgatory this season after he was bought out by the Rangers.

With the Blues, the 35-year-old had two goals and three assists in 23 games. However, the addition of big-minute d-man Jay Bouwmeester from Calgary obviously knocked Redden down the depth chart.

Will he play with Chara again? That duo was scary in Ottawa.

that could turn his career back around, it got him that contract last time they were together. at worst he is a step up from Johnson for the Bruins

Not all that great but having him on the same team as Chara may improve his game a bit. If anyone, Chiarelli has a good idea on who this guy is given their history in Ottawa. Complete depth move obviously and I would have liked a bigger move to solidify the D. The Bruin’s biggest hurdle is finding their game though, and no trade is going to solve that. Jagr is an upgrade for sure. Redden is depth, and Soderberg may help when he gets there. But if they finally hit their groove here soon, they’ll make a serious go of it. Hasn’t happened yet this year so it needs to happen soon.
