Tampa’s Thompson to have hearing for head check on Devils’ D’Agostini

Tampa Bay’s Nate Thompson is going to have to pay a visit (or at least a phone call) with Brendan Shanahan.

Thompson will meet with the Department of Player Safety today over a head check he delivered to New Jersey’s Matt D’Agostini during the second period of last night’s Lightning shootout victory. No penalty was called on the play and D’Agostini wasn’t hurt on the play.

For what it’s worth, Thompson doesn’t appear to have a record for being suspended so he’s got that working for him. Tampa Bay’s next game isn’t until Tuesday night at home against the Panthers. If Thompson is suspended, he’ll have to wait a while to serve it.

I know thompson has never been a dirty player, and after seeing the hit from different angle, you can see that he hits Shoulder to Shoulder but D’agostini’s head has the “Whiplash”. It was a Blindside hit, so I’m going to guess suspended for 1 game. As a Tampa bay fan, it was a kind of hit that we are trying to get rid off. Lupul got 2 games, and this hit was nothing close to that hit.

I just watched the replay again, Depends what angle you see it, but it did look to be shoulder to face. I’d consider that a 2 games suspension. Only because he’s not a Superstar!
