Ovechkin shows off cut after taking puck to face

Mar 28, 2013, 1:01 PM EDT

Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin left Thursday’s practice after being struck by a puck and needed stitches, CSN Washington reports.

Ovechkin went down as a result of the blow, but quickly got back to his feet. He threw his stick before skating off the ice so that the bleeding wound on his chin could be attended to.

Fortunately, Ovechkin seemed to be in good spirits after that incident.

“It’s hockey ))) hahaha,” Ovechkin tweeted. He later added that he needed 22 stitches.

He also shared some before and after photos of the damage:

Yeah, because we know what cavemen that lived 100,000 years ago sounds like. Or if they even spoke at all.

I get what you’re saying, but you should really consider proofreading, or using punctuation, or working on syntax a bit.

Should’ve been blue stitches so they can differentiate between hair and stitch. Gonna hurt like hell when they grab the wrong one and pull!

I say the stitches should have been yellow to match his skate laces
