Pictures and video: Kings visit White House

Mar 26, 2013, 4:52 PM EST

A couple of pictures from the Kings’ visit to the White House, where President Barack Obama today congratulated the Stanley Cup champions for winning their first title in franchise history (and also for beating “my Blackhawks” last night in Chicago.)

Another championship team from Los Angeles, the MLS Galaxy, was also honored today. As you can see, Kings coach Darryl Sutter was very impressed with the president’s soccer skills. (Getty images)

Here’s video of the ceremony, courtesy the White House:

Did he pretend to be a hockey fan too?

    • phillyphanatic77 - Mar 26, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Yes, we all know he’s a socialist muslim from Kenya who hates hockey and America.

Who’s the cat frolicking to the right of Darryl Sutter…?

    • blomfeld - Mar 26, 2013 at 10:29 PM

Answer: Barack Obama, the 44th and current President of the United States, in office since 2009. He is the first African American to ever hold the office and he’s by far the “coolest” prez since JFK! :)

      • drwang13 - Mar 27, 2013 at 10:03 AM

Actually blomfled, Barry is on his left. But I don’t expect you to know your right from left if you support that guy. Too bad “coolnees” doesn’t solve the economy, defict, war, etc…

      • blomfeld - Mar 27, 2013 at 11:13 AM

Broken economy, record deficits, multiple wars, tarnished image …

That’s right Wang … and just who do you think we should be thanking for that ?

      • drwang13 - Mar 27, 2013 at 1:47 PM

That’s Dr. Wang to you clown. Obama is in his second term, he needs to be held accountable for what he is not doing. And that is fixing this country like he promised in 2007. He has done nothing worthwhile since he’s been in office all he is doing is just pushing the liberal ajenda.

Now get back to bussing those tables boy.

      • namriverrat69 - Mar 27, 2013 at 3:22 PM

Mr. Blomfeld – I couldn’t agree with you more in the JFK comparison. JFK made Tiger Woods look like a rank amateur when it came to womanizing and cheating. JFK would screw anything that walked. He sacrificed all the Cuban anti-Castro freedom fighters lives when he changed his mind on providing them air support. The only problem with that was – he intentionally didn’t tell them he pulled the air support. This is fondly remembered as “The Bay of Pigs”. Don’t believe all the movies and rhetoric that is thrown around about how wonderful the Kennedys were. Bobby was a philanderer and so was little Teddy was a murderer who killed Mary Jo Kopechne. Because he was a Kennedy he wasn’t held accountable. He was a philanderer like his two older brothers and his dad, Old Joe Kennedy.

Kennedy did have some good points. He furthered Dwight Eisenhower’s call for physical fitness for our youth. He challenged us to go to the moon in 8 1/2 years. He stood up to Russia during the Cuban missile crisis. JFK still accomplished more in less than 3 years than Obama has in 4 years. Kennedy was a highly skilled politician while Obama is a smooth talker with no political game at all. He is a flim flam man

All in all, Obama is right there in the same classless class as the rich old Dead Kennedys.

“That’s Dr. Wang to you clown” …

fair enough then “Doctor” Wang … but usually doctors can spell the word “agenda” correctly, is that not correct ?

      • blomfeld - Mar 28, 2013 at 12:49 AM

Namriverrat69 – everything you’ve mentioned is fact, so how to reply? … the genesis of what the Kennedy’s became was had by trading in “booze” during prohibition … as you know, American presidents are essentially nothing more than “pitchmen” for the money behind the scenes who make their presidencies possible … and that’s probably so with most societies in the world … nonetheless, my remarks above were meant to address the “cosmetic” aspect of the US presidency, coupled of course with the Blomfeld mantra of “good times” and nothing more (ie: this website is simply not the forum to get all “hot and heavy” about issues like this) … nonetheless, in terms of morality we know that the Kennedy’s were pigs … it was well known that on trips to the west coast, Air Force One would always stop in Vegas for a couple of hours while Jack popped into town for a “quickie” with some hooker … that’s how it was I suppose … as for the Bay of Pigs ? … yeah, it was very unfair for the men involved … but so too is battle when a general “feigns” on the left while delivering the “hammer blow” on the right, all the while knowing that those poor souls on the left are likely doomed …

Be happy friend as our glorious LA Kings are on the march again this year ! :)

    phillyphanatic77: Darn tootin’!

  6. blomfeld - Mar 26, 2013 at 11:06 PM

    GREAT TEAMS ! … GREAT PRESIDENT ! … GREAT ARTICLE ! :)

Of course I’m biased being the rabid King’s fan that I am, but what a nice article eh? Captain Brown looked very “smart” standing next to the leader of the free world and the entire Kings team presented themselves in a most “exemplary” fashion … as did Donovan and the Galaxy. But what’s up with our coach, as he kind of looks “nuts” at times, don’t you think? :) Anyway, as a Canadian who loves America, I tip my hat to you people as you’re the absolute “best” neighbor and friend that any nation could ever have !

    • drwang13 - Mar 27, 2013 at 10:06 AM

      What are you, high?

      • blomfeld - Mar 27, 2013 at 11:15 AM

Higher than you could ever imagine pal !

  7. 950003cups - Mar 27, 2013 at 12:13 AM

Barry is as much a hockey fan as he is an American citizen.

    • manchestermiracle - Mar 27, 2013 at 1:07 AM

So he’s a big hockey fan? I didn’t know that. Say, how’s that search for Sarah Palin’s HS diploma going? Your party does the country no favor by being so terminally tone-deaf, absurdly hypocritical, and mired in 1952. For all the well-earned criticism thrown the Dems way (I’ve got plenty of my own), Republicans make it far too easy for them to look competent compared to that train wreck called the GOP. By the way, your tin-foil hat is on crooked…

  8. manchestermiracle - Mar 27, 2013 at 1:08 AM

I imagine that after whipping the team from Obama’s adopted home town there wasn’t much chance that a classy guy like Sutter would pile on by asking his question about the XL pipeline.

  9. 950003cups - Mar 27, 2013 at 1:44 AM

You’re a bunch of socialists. The democrats of today are far from the Dems of yesteryear. The unfortunate result will be a super religious zealot Republican Party. This country is not improving under either party. Any of you Obamabots or Bushwackers who think your in the days of the resurrection will be very disappointed. The 2 party system is obsolete.

    • blomfeld - Mar 27, 2013 at 11:23 AM

Truth be known, the US has a “one party” system much like China or Russia. And the members of that party are primarily made up of “compromised” agents from industries like defense, oil, finance and drugs with “money” being the common denominator. Nonetheless, I still maintain that the US has superior leadership today compared to what was in office previously … even if it is only cosmetic …
