What precedent? The precedent changes every time there’s a questionable hit. If the NHLs supplemental discipline department was a court they would be reversing every past decision with every subsequent case. The inconsistency is unbelievable. But you’re absolutely correct… the crest on the front of the jersey and/or the name on the back seems to impact every decision.

They really should be worried about the sorry play from the rest of the team.
That was a blow to the head.
The Nash hit was not. I get why Shanny didnt suspend him. The PA has a day in what violations constitute a suspension. Despite all the yelling. The head was clearly not the point of impact. He said he can’t suspend a player for leaving his feet alone. Shanny must work within the confines of the rule book. Like it or not. Which I do not. Thats what the owners and union agreed on.
Both were very dirty hits. Nash in particular was really bad. Looked like a WWE move. No place for that in Hockey.

NHL discipline is always interesting. Funny the precedent doesn’t seem to apply equally to ALL teams.

What did Andrew Shaw get for a similar yet in my opinion less violent collision in the playoffs on Smith? He was assessed a game misconduct and 3 additional playoff games. And if you use the Raffi Torres logic, 3 playoff games is like 6 regular season games, plus the rest of the game when the hit took place. While I dont think Edler should have gotten more, the precedent is there. To Mike Gillis, the Vancouver Canucks, Joffrey Lupul, and anyone else…. as much as it sucks and disagree with it whining doesnt help. Suck it up, keep your mouth shut, unless to apologize and come back with a vengeance. Oh, and enjoy your days off.
