Well since roc hit on every counter point i had, i’ll leave you with this. I want Ott to wear that “C” but not because he scored an OT goal, but because hes playing like one of the only guys that hasnt given up in the locker room. He is leading this team, unlike Stafford who has an letter for some ungodly reason.

travishenryskid before you go calling fans clueless why don’t get your own facts straight. Porter is averaging 15:30 per game not 18. What makes him a career AHLer? He has played 176 NHL games and 146 AHL games, last I checked a career AHLer has played a lot more in the AHL than the NHL. Also he is in no way taking Roy’s spot. Roy was the first line center and Porter has been playing on the third line. The player that took Roy’s spot is Hodgson. I am also pretty sure nobody said they wanted Ott to have a letter because he scored the OT goal last game. They want him to to be a captain because he has been the hardest working sabre for most of the year and shows up night in and night out. Personally I don’t think you want an agitator to wear the ‘C’ but he is definitely leading with his work ethic.

Bigblack, that’s not how it works. Kevin Porter, a career AHLer is playing in Roy’s role, getting 18 mins a game. BTW, if you think Ott should be captain because he scored an OT goal, what did you think of Roy, who had many as a Sabre? Buffalo may love hockey, but most fans are very clueless about it.

When both players have 16 points, but one has 120 more hits than the other, you can safely say the sabres have won the trade. Plus one has stepped up and shown that he has almost everything you want in a captain. I expect to see Otter wearing a letter next year.

This looks like a rare trade that was bad for BOTH teams as they are both worse this season. After the humiliation by the Hawks and giving up a 2-0 lead to the Avs, it may be time for the Stars to sell…AND for Nieuwendyk to sharpen up his resume.

Sabres are 29th in the NHL this year, but were in the playoff hunt last year. Not sure how you can say they got the trade right when they got worse, by a lot, and that was the only major change. Keep clinging to that stance, Buffalo fans, it’s amusing.

From what I heard in Buffalo was Roy is a good player but he is a jerk. Maybe that has something to do with it. I know for my money I would take Ott over Roy every time. It has been on of the few trades they got right recently

Who cares what they gave up, Trade him, Jagr, Nystrom, and Morrow, get prospects or draft picks! The return you’ll get for all 4 players will be greater than most trade deadlines, due to every team being in the playoff race.
