its really amusing how in love the philly fans are with the over rated schenn brothers , someone mentioned that luke schenn is a future star in the making?? lol he has been point blank horrible this yera and most of last year . brayden isnt far behind, he played a few good playoff games and everybody is ready to appoint him the next rick tocchet lol… you serious?

Voracek is only 24 years old and is showing his talent, the flyers do not need to go after goal scorers, they need to go after a top four D man. Coburn is obviously not the D man we expected him to be and kimmo is getting old. Schenn will be a star defenceman in the years to come but he needs time to grow into it.

There problem is crappy defense and Bryzgalov being as bad as he was last year. All these people defending Bryz I don’t know where they are getting “hes been solid this year” Where? He had one signature game this year the other night against the Devils. Other than that where has he been good outside of the 1st 2 weeks of the season? He also bad mouths the team and said he’s tired of losing… How about HE plays better instead of giving up 3 , 4 , 5 goals a game seemingly everynight. And about the crappy defense i don’t getwhy in hell Kimmo Timmonen was signed for next year… He’s so slow and he seems to be on the ice for every goal against. I know hes a leader…but it’s not like this team is responding to leaders anyway. Luke Schenn…he’s solid….he is a big body who can be very physical hes not a legit #1 hes a #2 or #3 defensemen…. Coburn i don’t know what happened I thought he showed signs of being a legit #2 defenseman but hes been horrible this year…. I do have ideas of what they can do.. If i was Paul Holmgren i’d pull the trigger on Couturier for Bobby Ryan if it presented itself. Ryan on a line with G and Voracek would be lethal. You’d give them a 30-40 goal scorer…Couturier i’d trade him now while his stock is really high. I dont think hes going to be a 20 goal scorer in this league… he doesnt have the offensive tools to me in the eye test. I’d then in the offseason trade Mezjaros and free up cap space, I’d buy out Briere… I’d sign a Center like Travis Zajac from the Devils to replace Couturier. Then i’d sign a veteran defenseman like Robert Scuderi and in the draft if they miss the playoffs they should get a good pick and be able to go after this defenseman Swedish Robert Hagg who is an up and coming Nicklas Lidstrom…I’d then amnesty Bryz’s contract and I’d sign Ray Emery to a 2 or 3 year deal.

I think Read is one of the bright spots on that team. Look at your minus players….Giroux -9, Briere -13, Couturier -11, Coburn -11…there’s a prevalent problem, and Giroux’s part of it. But I don’t think it’s his fault, either.

I wonder if the Flyers dropped the tough guy act, and actually adopted a “score first, hit second” attitude, how they’d do? I haven’t seen many games where everyone was in good position at the same time – usually someone is lagging behind because they wanted to hit someone late, after the puck was long gone. Lots of talent on that team, it’s a shame they forget that they aren’t the Broad Street Bullies, and they should probably just play hockey. No one’s initimated.

Giroux is the least of this team’s worries Briere, Couterier,Read, even Hartnell though he is coming of an injury, they have no second line scoring Giroux and his first unit are one of the best power play units in the league but if they don’t score the rest of the team doesn’t score and they only have one real offense minded defensemen in Timmonen cause Mezaros is a shell of his former self luckily the kid they draft last year Shane Gostisbehere looks legit but he’s about a year away

so you’re saying he is only good at a small part of hockey. there’s plenty of guys who are small and skilled in the league. not sure what small has to do with it. by standards he isnt that small 5’11″ 180lbs is good sized, like crosby sized actually. he is bigger than st louis, and st louis has been better for longer and has a more complete game by your own admission. the fact that you are arguing that he needs a defenseman to help him is just a sad excuse and shows me that even you dont believe he is in the elite ranks of the nhl. elite players create, make things happen for themselves, and make others around them better because of it. if you’re saying he is just good at speed rushes and needs someone else to start it for him too, then you can put him in the same category as more than half the league. you put nhl forwards on a rush 3 on 2, 2 on 1, or breakaways and they are gonna score goals, doesnt matter who they are, they are nhl players…you have to be able to do those things to play in the nhl. the great ones do much much more.

right, its not voracek – its giroux. giroux is luckily 29th thanks to voracek. giroux is either having a bad year this year or last year was just a fluke…he is back to mediocre numbers and back to his average .85 ppg average of seasons past. that said, he is playing with a better player in voracek over jagr and hartnell again (though i know hartnell has been injured much of the year), so the dip in production must be his own fault. if you wanna argue that hartnell has been injured, you can see hartnell’s numbers (2g 3a in 14 games…lol) and squash that pretty quickly, production was better without hartnell on his line. the defense and goaltending dont score goals or get him assists either.

Jesus, just admit that Girouxe needs someone to help him produce. It is right in front of your eyes. Jagr may not have had a ton of points but look at how well he made Girouxe and Hartnell. Yeah Voracek has points but I was talking about making the captain and hartnell better.

These are not blind observations. I can clearly see it and so can many others.

Giroux’s game is not puck possession, he’s not a big guy, he’s a speed guy with a lot of skill, what he needs is a defenseman that can move the puck and get the rush started because as much as I like schenn and grossman, starting the rush is not their game

do u even watch flyers hockey before you make observations? the replacement on the top line jacob voracek has 31 points in 30 games and is 11th in league scoring, lastyear jagr had 53 points in 73 games, far less poitns per game than Voracek. Claude G is 29th in league scoring, the problem is not Voracek, its crap defense and outside of the first 2-3 weeks, bryz has been asbad as he was last season.

If they close the gap a bit, I would love to see them make a move to bring Jagr back. he made the entire team better last year, especially Giroux.

They need a veteran guy to play with G and Hartnell if they want numbers like last year.. If not a veteran, a very skilled pass first shoot later player.
