Back in action: Brodeur to start versus ‘Canes

Martin Brodeur will be back in New Jersey’s goal tomorrow in Carolina, the club announced today.

Brodeur, who’s been out with a back injury, last played on Feb. 21.

New Jersey has struggled in the 40-year-old’s absence, going 3-8-2 (and falling out of a playoff position) with inconsistent backup Johan Hedberg between the pipes.

The Devils are ninth in the Eastern Conference, tied in points with the sixth-place Hurricanes, seventh-place Leafs and eighth-place Rangers, each of whom have a game in hand on New Jersey.

    In 6 weeks the guy’s gonna be 41, and we still can’t win without him??? Oh geez! How lucky was that (1990) draft pick 23 years ago!!!!

    NOTE: Scott Clemmensen was good when he filled in. But he’s property of Florida Panthers

      The bigger question is: What are the Devils gonna do when he retires? They should’ve had a young protege in place a year or two ago but have yet to find him.

    Maybe he can finally get his 3rd NHL/SCP goal. His drought is even longer that Ryane Clowe’s.
