Ask anybody who knows hockey at a Pro level (i.e.: actual coaches, scouts, analysts, players, GMs, etc…) and you won’t hear a single ONE of ‘em agree with you that Doughty is overrated. Nick Lidstrom? Bobby Orr? … no. Top 10 in the league overall? … yes.

In addition to being our absolute “best” rearguard defender, Drew Doughty is also “top 5″ in terms of the NHL’s best. As the gifted, dedicated, selfless and passionate player that he is, Drew gives his all “night in & night out” for our team … and what a terrific contribution he delivers! Many of you fellow King’s fans will recall last year during the playoffs (ie: against the Yotes I think?) when Drew was assessed with a questionable penalty. The TV announcers were going on about about how he should “settle down” etc, because of his reaction to the dubious call. For me however, Drew’s passionate protestations that night spoke “volumes” about his wonderful “unfettered” character and uncompromising conviction for our cause. I’m just so happy and grateful that we have a “special” player like Drew commanding our rearguard corps! And as coach Sutter says, he shouldn’t concern himself with the goal-scoring business, as that will come in due course. Besides, our vanguard is “bristling” with such a firepower, that it has our detractors now “trembling” in their skates!

“may the excellent player known as Doughty soon come to find himself awash upon an endless sea of goals and joy … inshallah” …
