I'll give you Nabby got away with a trip there.

On the "kicking" goal, they showed the overhead angle on the US broadcast. It clearly showed Aucoin attempting to stop and the puck going off his skate. His only other option was crashing directly into the net. I will never understand how they called that back. Baffling.

The high-stick non whistle was completely inexcusable.

Yes, ultimately the onus is on the Isles for going 16% on the PP and letting the Sens come back from 3-1 but the officiating determined the outcome of a very important game. Had they not called that goal back it would have been 4-3 and the Isles probably win (or at least take it to OT). Had they whistled the play dead on the blatant high stick the Isles would have at least gotten a point and possibly 2 in OT.

Like you said, the Isles are a flawed team which is exactly why they can't afford to be screwed over by officiating.

How about the missed penalties on the Isles in the 3rd for too many men on the ice and the one where Nabakov tripped Zack Smith when he was circling the net. The no-goal call was close impossibe to tell from the angles on the Canadian broadcast, though it was mentioned that tv viewers in Can and the US did not have access to the overhead camera angles and the NHL did.... Lets call a spade a spade though. The Islanders arent a bad team but they still have some work to do. Fluke goals or not a goal is a goal. The Isles lost because of their inability to make the Sens pay on the powerplay.

I, in fact, DID watch the game. The Isles deserved that one. The second goal was a pure fluke and the GWG should never have been allowed.

And all of the calls the Isles got were legitimate penalties. I'm not saying it was a conspiracy I'm just saying that the officiating changed the outcome of the game.

My main point is that I don't understand how you write an article about a game in which the officiating had a clear and measurable impact on the outcome and not even mention it.

Yeah that game was a complete botch-job.

The Isles partly deserved it because they gave up the two quick goals at the beginning of the 3rd but they still got absurdly hosed by Toronto and the refs.

No way there was enough evidence to call Aucoin's goal a "distinct kicking motion" and the high stick before the Senators go ahead goal was the most blatant thing I've ever seen.

You clearly did not watch the game- how about some objectivity

Anyone who would think the Isles are cupcakes hasn't watched them much this year. It is a LOT easier to win when the breaks and the officiating go your way. OTT tied it on an absolutely fluke goal. Then a go ahead Isles goal was washed out on an alleged kicking motion that was apparent to only the good folks in Toronto. Then OTT knocked a puck into the Isles' zone w/ a high stick immediately prior to the GWG. OTT really did not deserve to win at all!!!
