Guess you haven’t watched the Caps much. Ribero is one of their top scorers and has been a leader for them during a difficult stretch. Eakin has great potential yes. It was a good trade for both teams.

Legal hip check in open ice. sabatimus is right…nothing to see here except a guy trying to draw a penalty.

The only thing I would quibble with you about sabatimus is that I think the Canucks might be a better fit. Kesler can teach Stajan how to REALLY embellish.

Deserved a minor… but the rest was total overreaction by the Flames.

Nothing at all wrong with this “hit”…if you can even call it a hit. More like a slight brushing followed by a blatant embellishment, as evidenced by the fact that Stajan lay on the ice like he was hurt, then immediately got up and went after Eakin.

Hartley is SO full of crap on this one. And after that dive the Flames should trade Stajan to the Habs.

The hit was kind of cheap. That said, it wasn’t that awful, either, at least not in terms of its consequences and at least not from the angles at which I saw it.

You can’t go a week anymore without hearing a coach in the NHL make some comment such as: “That’s one of the dirtiest hits that I’ve seen. … Those hits can end careers.”

Send one of your guys after Eakin on his next shift to let him know not to do it again. Don’t just run to the media after the game and whine about how it’s the most egregiously violent hit the NHL’s ever witnessed.

The execution didn’t look that bad, but it’s a low-bridge and he got a lot behind it. I bet we see a fine.

At the same time, Stajan has been on the receiving end of too many big blows over the last few years. The guy acts like he has all the time in the world when receiving a pass, it’s time for him to start paying attention.
