Getty Images Blackhawks star Patrick Kane admitted that he wanted to get “revenge” against the Colorado Avalanche (the team that ended Chicago’s historic point streak). As it turns out, they did so on Monday – at least on the scoreboard – with a 5-2 win.
Kane and Jonathan Toews had matching one-goal, two-assist nights. They continued to enjoy solid depth contributions (one goal for Jimmy Hayes and Andrew Shaw) along with some contributions form their defense (a two-point evening for Brent Seabrook).
Unfortunately, the story is ultimately bittersweet because the team must worry about yet another Marian Hossa injury.
Still, if the ‘Hawks finally slow down due to injuries and other factors, they at least built a nice nest egg for themselves. They became the first team to cross the 50-point standings mark, as their 24-2-3 record leaves them with 51.
Interestingly enough, they’ll face the Anaheim Ducks – aka the team that took their place at No.1 in many pundits’ power rankings recently – on Wednesday.
