Video: David Krejci felled by Johnny Boychuk blast

Mar 17, 2013, 4:45 PM EDT

Boston’s 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh wound up being painful for Bruins forward David Krejci.

In the third period, Krejci was parked in front of Penguins goalie Tomas Vokoun while Johnny Boychuk wound up and unleashed a slap shot that the Czech forward tried to jump out of the way of. Instead of avoiding the shot he was hit right above his knee, dropping him to the ice. Krejci had to be helped off the ice and did not return to the game. See the play for yourself.

This video is no longer available. Click here to watch more NBC Sports videos!’s Joe Haggerty reports Krejci was seen stiffly walking to the team bus following the game. Boychuk is hoping his first-line center is OK.

“I just hope he’s OK,” Boychuk said. “It was a good pass over by [Zdeno Chara] and I had the whole lane to walk down and lots of time. I tried to put everything on it. Unfortunately it hit Krejci.”

The Bruins had no update on his condition and coach Claude Julien expects him to at least travel with the team for Tuesday’s game in Winnipeg.

I think he got it in the Vag.

It should be OK, they can take a real pounding.

    • ravenscaps48 - Mar 17, 2013 at 5:24 PM

You have never been hit by a frozen disc of galvanized rubber directly in the knee at over 85mph, have you?

      • drewzducks - Mar 17, 2013 at 5:26 PM

Of course he hasn’t. But he has been hit in the vag before.

    • dropthepuckeh - Mar 17, 2013 at 5:44 PM

Stay classy Habsman. You wonder why people around here can’t stand you?

    • lordstanley65 - Mar 17, 2013 at 5:56 PM

That’s low even for you. You truly have hit a new low, which is always a goal of yours. Congratulations on being a heel.

Hahahahahahahahaha drewduck with the best comment ever!

  4. operwapitsai - Mar 17, 2013 at 6:08 PM

ooh papi that one hurts. Ive taken one or two there before ( butttt not from a professional athlete) thats like getting hit in your tailbone, your whole leg goes numb. He’ll be back at 100 before the weekend

  5. habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 6:45 PM

Wow, it sure is quiet around here inre: Boychuck’s embellishment.

Why is that? Where is the outrage? Where are all the Bruin girls complaining about diving? Is it because they’re two faced hypocrites? Or are they all getting a bath before school tomorrow?

And where is coach Clod? Is embellishment OK only when your team does it?

I think the Bruins are being exposed. When they’re not sucker punching and delivering cheap shots, they’re diving and embellishing. Nice.

    • tdrusher225 - Mar 17, 2013 at 7:31 PM

You’re really nit-picking, you may be the only fan talking about that play. I’ve seen that play a million times in the NHL and at most levels. You get a stick to the face and you’re likely to react, whether it be all pain or not. But I’ve seen plenty of Canadiens do something quite similar and I can’t imagine you called them out on it.

      • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 7:47 PM

You don’t get it do you?

Coach Clod called out the Habs and all the other teams in the league last week for embellishment.

Then it was revaled in at least three video’s on the net that the Bruins were were just as guilty. Now your guy Boychuck pretends he was shot by a sniper.

        Pot meet kettle.

      • tdrusher225 - Mar 17, 2013 at 9:25 PM

No need for the sarcasm, I get the point you’re trying to make. I’m telling you that you’re exaggerating the play because you’re trying to search for some type of embellishment play, so you can bash the Bruins for being hypocrites. Every team in the NHL embellishes to some degree, but if you’re trying to make the case that the Bruins are just as bad, if not worse than anyone else in the league, I disagree. Resorting to calling players like Boychuk divers, or continually coming back to Marchand is not making as strong a case as you may think. (BTW see James Wisnewski Game 7 2011)

      • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 9:43 PM

Every team in the league embellishes to some extent. We’re in total agreement.

But don’t sit at a podium and call out others, when there is plenty of evidence that your team is guilty of the same accusations.

And just for the record, if I was a coach, any player who dives would get an automatic 5 game susspension.

      • tdrusher225 - Mar 17, 2013 at 10:11 PM

Fair enough, but I don’t hear any acknowledgement of Habs players either. You seem to be fixed on bashing Bruins players for very marginal accusations.

The embellishment complaint is not based off whether it happens, it’s how often it happens. And imo between the Bruins and Canadiens the volume of embellishment is clearly tilted to the side of the Montreal.

      • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 10:35 PM

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion. IMO the Habs are no better or no worse than the rest of the league. All type and amount of embellishment is plain wrong, and that includes the Habs. But our team hasn’t been the subject of ridicule on the Daily show and other shows. Why do you think that is? Could it be the hypocritical nature of the Bruin complaints?

Obviously coach Clod was attempting to plant seeds in the minds of officials for future games. And based on the Bruins style of play, it’s understandable. But he and the Bruins, sure looked foolish when you look at those vids, don’t they?

      • tdrusher225 - Mar 18, 2013 at 5:11 PM

Dude that wasn’t actually from the Daily Show. That was just some Canucks fan who put that video together on youtube.

      • soj83 - Mar 18, 2013 at 12:02 AM

habsman, do you really think those videos on youtube are actually from the daily show? John Stewart isn’t even wearing the same tie or suit from throughout the videos.

  6. misterchainbluelightning - Mar 17, 2013 at 6:58 PM

I still get a kick out of the idea of a shot not being hard but “heavy” although I totally understand what Pierre getting at, I know for a fact that no matter who is shooting, the weight of that puck remains the same, and how hard it impacts is directly related to the speed it is travelling.

  7. crusty14 - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:16 PM

Crosbys stick obviously hit boychuk in the face. He didn’t embellish anything. As with all high sticks, the refs come and check for blood. End of story. It wasn’t an intentional high stick, but a high stick nonetheless , and it will always be called.

    • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:36 PM

Nice try crusty, but your “spin” won’t work.

The stick barely grazed him, that’s why there was no call. But that sure was a good display of embellishment. Maybe you didn’t see Boychuck laughing when he got back to the bench? Typical.

  8. arbruins - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:33 PM

Your comments are laughable Habsman…mostly because it’s the same puke over and over again. Go watch your Canadiens dive team while the rest of us watch hockey!

    • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:39 PM

Ohoh, looks like I hit nerve eh?

So, on a scale of one to ten, what would you give Boychuck on that embellishment? Personally, I’d give him a seven.

  9. arbruins - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:45 PM

Nah…I think you are funny. You do need better material though. Same stuff over and over again. You are my reason for posting!

    • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:57 PM

It’s nice to know I amuse and inspire you. And I think my material is wonderful, no need for new stuff, but I’ll work on it.

So…….on a scale of one to ten. Whad-a-ya-say? Give us a score.

  10. arbruins - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:51 PM

Maybe a 5…Suban is a much better diver and has earned a 10 every time.

    • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 8:59 PM

      Ha, a five! Good one.

What about Ferrence, Thornton, Seguin, and Rat Face. What would their scores be?

  11. arbruins - Mar 17, 2013 at 9:13 PM

Honestly, I really can’t rate them or anyone because I do not play pro hockey. I sit here, drink beer and watch the game. All teams have a certain amount of diving and that is the fault of the league. The teams should be able to police themselves like they used to. In my opinion, the bruins are probably the closest to doing this because they actually stick up for each other…at least they have for over the past 3 or 4 seasons. Because they police themselves, opposing fans believe they are bullies and thugs…so be it. This is after all a team sport isn’t it? Maybe other teams would follow suit…if they were actually teams.

    • habsman - Mar 17, 2013 at 9:50 PM

      What kind of beer?

Scabsman the Canadiens play like girls all the time that is why they dive to the ice all the time. That team has not had any heart since Boston Bad Boys Chris Nilan and Steve Rooney left Montreal and came back to the U.S and back then you had to import toughness. Face facts hockey is now the U.S. game. During realignment they considered lumping the Canadian Teams into a girls division since most of the Habs players have Vags but you have to shave Canadian women down to find the Vag and even then it’s hard to tell since Canadian women have more balls than the men. So why don’t you make like Carrie Price and go put your pads on cause I think it’s your time of the month. So get off the PC or go back to your Gay Porn blog the men are having a hockey conversation here

    • habsman - Mar 18, 2013 at 8:59 AM

Now you’re really hitting below the belt. Shaving Canadien women to find their vag? Now that truely hurts.

My response would be that most of the women I’ve met from Boston have teeth like Jack Edwards. Don’t you people have dentists down there? Jeez.

You’re spot on pal. Got me all figured out.

My mom’s (and dad’s) basement is actually pretty nice. I’ve got my own fridge, TV, a wood stove for those extra cold winter nights, I can stay up as late as I want, mom does my laundry, and there’s unlimited internet.

And I get to comment on the “Chep Shot, Sucker Punching, Diving, Embellishing Bruins. What’s not to love?
