San Jose Sharks general manager Doug Wilson is reportedly in “full panic mode,” according to Bruce Garrioch’s of the Ottawa Sun, and three of the team’s pending unrestricted free agents – Ryane Clowe, Michal Handzus and Douglas Murray – are available.

The Sharks won their first seven games of the season, but have just five victories since. They are now sitting eighth in the Western Conference standings and have fallen 14 points back of the Anaheim Ducks in the Pacific Division.

They suffered a loss to the L.A. Kings Saturday, prompting a diatribe from head coach Todd McLellan.

“How frickin’ disappointing is that?” McLellan told the San Jose Mercury News.

“We play against the Stanley Cup champions back to back, we’re lucky enough to win one in San Jose, and we come here and you’ve got to think they’d be champing at the bit and ready to go. What a great opportunity for our team to test themselves collectively, but also individually. Do I belong in the NHL? And we had a lot of passengers.”

I hope Demers is up for grabs as well

  2. sjawesome - Mar 17, 2013 at 5:55 PM

You know who else is available? Jason Demers and T.J. Galiardi.

The sharks are not improving. It’s time to make some changes and fast

Let demers and handzus go. Keep clowe and murray.

  4. sjsblitz - Mar 17, 2013 at 6:04 PM

Clowes gotta go, progressively getting worse with the turn overs and the whole no scoring thing

  5. ethanmacleod1685 - Mar 17, 2013 at 6:18 PM

The only people deserving to stay is Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Couture, Irwin and Boyle.

DW, shake this thing up and quick. It’s time.

It’s not the top guys, it’s the bottom ones. They suck big time and have ruined this team

I agree clowe has been terrible but i feel like he may just be having a bad season. Maybe not though. Would suck to see him leave, he has been a big part of the sharks for years.

    • sjawesome - Mar 17, 2013 at 7:40 PM

It would suck even more to see Clowe leave in free agency and the sharks get nothing for him in return. Clowe has got to go.

I wish the sharks traded him over the summer. Clowe isn’t worth too much right now. Hindsight is always 20/20 I guess

Everyone likes to blow Clowe. He is not good. 4.5 mil? yikes bounce broham.

the issue is, I don’t see a trade senario that would help SJ this year. Who / what can they trade that will help the Sharks win now. Ya know? With limited resources for prospects, it may be time to blow it up. Sell everything over 28 years old and rebuild.

Just my .02 and I know it won’t be the popular choice for Shark fans but this team will not win in the playoffs (history also shows this) and this draft year is a great time to start to build for the future.

I agree with blowing it up. The sharks are not getting any younger and I think their stanly cup window has closed. They just don’t have what it takes. Lets get a bunch of high draft picks and move on

This team needs to be blown up. For the last 6-7 seasons they have claimed to already have every piece needed for a Cup run in their locker room. Every season they have said little to no changes needed to be made. And every season they have had no success…not even a decent playoff run, much less a Cup.
