Exactly. It’s painful to watch Datsyuk’s talents get wasted on his linemates. Abdelkader did the impossible and prove that Datsyuk can’t make every player better.

The reasoning Babcock has is it’s like a shutdown line to stop the opponents best line. But when the Wings are struggling to score two a game that philosophy obviously doesn’t work. I don’t question Babcock very often but it is baffling why he didn’t put Nyquist or Tatar on Datyuk’s line.

The defense continues their Jeckyl and Hyde routine and the forwards were not much help either, turnovers continue to be a problem and the Flames made the Wings pay. I am still wondering why Abdelkater is playing alongside Datsyuk while Nyquist was playing on the 3rd line and Franzen cannot hit the side of a barn with his shot. A team cannot lose to teams like Columbus and Calgary and expect to make the playoffs.

Didn’t like Quincy in Denver, don’t see what he brings to Detroit.

But… everyone, including Kronwall and Ericsson have been sloppy and slow, turnover machines.

The Wings defense men played like the puck was a live grenade, another poor effort by the whole team. They have to beat teams like Calgary and the Blue Jackets and those 6 points would have boosted them up in the standings and help solidify a playoff birth. Sad to say but maybe Holland was right when he said in the preseason I don’t know if we will be a playoff team this year.

Gustvansson looked brutal tonight. The defensive coverage was admittedly just about as bad, but he looked like Luongo after a bout of Chelsea Dagger. Just dazed by even a straight-ahead wrist shot.
