People don’t realize how significant the downgrade has been. Ehrhoff was *stellar* in Vancouver and Salo provided stability and a big, hard shot – and even though Ehrhoff’s been middling in Buffalo and Salo questionably healthy, combined with the rest of the Canucks’ unit, they were brilliant. Kesler’s gone from 40 goals and a Selke to severely injury-prone. David Booth’s a big, wasted cap hit. The Sedins are starting to decline a bit with age. It all combines to a much less dangerous team than it was two years ago, even if most of the parts are on paper the same or adequately replaced.

There aren’t enough looks and they don’t get their opponents moving enough to force a breakdown.
