It is well deserved for these cities and fan bases, period. The recent success of the teams has nothing to do with it. Hockey is a HUGE part of the culture there. It will make money.

BCPlace has a roof, and they use artificial ice anyway. It could easily be done. Now, whether you’d want to hold a Heritage Classic in a covered stadium is a completely different question.

As much as I’d love to see it happen, is that even remotely realistic in Vancouver? We just don’t have the climate for it. It only snows here an average of literally a few days a year and usually melts to slush almost immediately. It’s questionable whether any day of the year is cold enough for this to work…let alone enough of them that you could just set a date and count on it being cold enough.

Yes the Leafs are exactly as decent as they were at this point last year (games wise) lets see them make the playoffs before saying their not terrible.

Nothing says outdoor hockey like Vancouver, playing it in a retractable roof dome, so if it rains that day in Vancouver (not uncommon in the winter) doesn’t it just becoome a regular game in a slightly bigger venue?

Get with the times. Flames, Oilers and Jets are the bad Canadian teams now. Leafs are decent, not much worse than the hot-and-cold Red Wings actually, Sens are shockingly good when you consider all their best players are out and they’re still a playoff team.
